Oh I agree with you Mahjik, but since Im over here I
dont have to pay for shipping and all that. Now im just saying if it was possible to have the real stuff for a small amount, like if FAKE cost is $1200, and REAL is $1400 which part would you get?

Mazdaspeed is pretty much the same as here I have noticed, but no Scoot RE and others like that.

i strongly suggest that noone buy anything from this troll. hes obviously worried that he'll lose business if someone over here can make better and cheaper products. i stand behind chuck and what he's trying to do for the rotary community 100%.

and like i mind waiting eh, its not like im in need of a hood or bumper or otherwise my car wont run. grow up buddy

Arrow Its an "OPINION"......really...think!!

I personally am all about saving some cash aswell as getting a superb product. I know their are some manufacturers out that make some crappy replicas but on the other hand chuck at Rotary Extreme make high quality stuff. The scoot hood for example cost from japan $2200+shipping and when you recieve it in like 8 months because its on back order and is being shipped by ship, then your going to have to take it to a body shop and fix it to fit properly because it fits like ***. And after that paint it. Or get it from chuck in carbon fiber for alot less. http://64.4.20.250/cgi-bin/linkrd?_l...oothood%2ehtml

Here is all the info......read for yourselves. Its better (Carbon Fiber) and fits perfect...unlike the real thing. Just like Flybye said: They make alot of the products you buy BETTER!

He guys, calm down. We don't have to debate about this by getting brutal.

My take on this:
There are SOME things that I would by a replica of and there are somethings that I wouldnt. Mechanical and electrical components I would almost NEVER buy a replica of unless the replica has been proven to be a superior product. I think a good example of this IS a Rolex. A Rolex is a marvelous piece of engineering. They are designed to withstand the elements and take a lot of abuse and keep on ticking. Would a Rolex replica ever withstand the same abuse? Hells no.

Now let's take something simpler for an example. You go to the department store, you see a brand name for X price, and then you see the EXACT same style towel from a generic company for 1/2 it's cost. Now, it's just a towel. You look at the materials both are made of, and they are EXACTLY the same. Both seem to be of the same quality, size, dimensions, and are even made of the SAME materials, so WHY the hell would you buy the more expensive one, when you could buy the generic one which is JUST as good for cheaper?

Let me use just ONE more example. The generic/replica type foods at department stores in the states that Mahjik mentioned. I don't know about some people, but I can certainly taste the difference in some of these foods. The macaroni and cheese is a good example. The generic style tends to taste VERY synthetic, while the brand name macaroni and cheese mixes taste MUCH more like real cheese. In a case like this, I most certainly perfer the brand name.

Rotary Extreme has taken their design, and made it BETTER. Even if the Original Feed bumper was for the same price, knowing the fact that Rotary Extreme's bumper FITS better, I would purchase his.

I purchase what has been proven to be the superior product REGARDLESS of who made it. If brand name is important to you, even though it is inferior, so be it.

If the price difference was much closer (like your example), I would not purchase a replica.

Unfortunately, most of the time, that's not the case...

Cool I was just curious, because I want to try to get you guys the good stuff.

Seriously, when I went back to CALI I didnt see a single RX7. WELL except for 2nd GEN. BUT YOU KNOW, those were the N/A ones. and these were ghetto. So I asked some buds about cars/turbos and stuff and they didnt know much about it. I mean I grew up with Ford/Chevy you know, like most of us im sure. NOW I saw a BUT LOAD of Hondas, I wont even get into what I think of those things. BUT I thought, we need to get that **** from Japan over here. Its not about money, its about getting the good stuff to the states, and I believe most people are out to make a buck. I dont even care about the money, I mean hell I dont want to buy your car parts hahaha. BUT I want to get you guys the good ****, without ripping you arms/legs and whatever else of to do it. HEY I put 3 engine in my MR2 Quality type at about $4000. a pop. NO MORE!!! Im here to work with you. Also I think I might plan a trip to Rotaryextreme if at all possible in July when I go to the states. NOT to knock their parts, but maybe to work withe them to get you guys stuff cheaper. Im also going to try to pitch it to TOPEND, but I dont know if Steve will go for it.
Sorry this was sooooo long

At the dyno day I was at last week they where talking about Mazdaspeed hoods.
One guy had bought a CF knockoff for $750, he put it on, it fit perfect, but he just needed money for performance parts on his car, so he turned around and sold it for exactly what he bougth the hood for.
Now another guy had the REAL Mazdaspeed hood, and it fit like crap, and he was amazed at the price for the replica.
End of story.

I personally am all for something that I can buy for 1/2 or even 2/3rd's the price, have it be better quality(sometimes even lighter than the original as in the case of the FEED replica) and save money for other mods(turbo, engine, susp, wheels, etc).

The strong points have been made, so I am not even going to get into this one.

So does anyone physically have this on their car yet? I saw the pictures on chucks website, but the fitment on the front where the hood meets the bumper seems to be a little off. Can someone tell me otherwise? If someone is happy with the fitment and quality, I maybe tempted to pick one up myself...

I get off work in 1 hour 37 minutes.

Probably outta give me an hour to remove my bumper since I've never done it before. Anyone got any pointers? Looking at the new bumper it looks like about 10 - 12 screws/bolts? 3 -4 easy to get to, the other behind the lights which shouldn't be too hard to get to once the light covers are removed.

Pointer: Remove the black plastic ring thingies around the headlights to provide more access. I remember someone posting about removing a FD bumper and they had to do this. Oh and it's always more helful if you have someone to help you incase you need a wrench on top and ratchet on the bottom but I am not sure if you'll need another person. I think you can do it by yourself.

hurry hurry hurry

but darn, ur in for quite a surprise. i was assuming that you had your stock bumper off already. its kinda a PITA to remove the stock one. i had to completely remove both my front wheel wells, followed by the 3 plastic protecters attached to the bottom of the stock bumper before i was able to get to all the bolts that hold the stocker on. i think that its a good 2-3 hours before you get it off. especially the first time

good luck, and dont worry about it... we can wait a day or two longer

I wasn't going to quit till I got it off...also had to take a break and help a buddy install his S-AFC into his CRX Turbo car.

Here they are! Sorry for the blurriness, low light + no flash + tired hands == bad pics.

I just used two bolts to hold it on and didn't have anyone to hold it into place for me while I was taking the pictures, so the gaps are a bit more than if all the bolts were in or if it was held into place by someone else.

It looked as if all the gaps were all going to close up very nicely!

To the body shop for fitment and painting tomorrow!

Enjoy!

looks good....by the way, how is the quality of the fiberglass? Is it strong? Also how much lower does the front bumper hang compared to stock? I like the front end a lot, be sure to post some pictures to us as soon as you get that thing painted!

I'm going to guess that it hangs about an inch to an inch and a half lower than the stock bumper w/out the R1 lip. Probably about the same "lowness" as the R1.

The fiberglass is thin and very light, but seems to be quite strong. You can lift it in the middle with one hand and it does not deform.

Yumm....Mine arrived last Tuesday but I have yet to run over and take a look at it due to work being so busy...Mine's not going into the shop until the 20th unfortunately. It'll be a long, impatient wait for me, sigh. Fitment looks very good in those photos, nocab. I had first dibs on the original, but with shipping and everything, it would have been 2X the cost of the copy. For the extra $$$ I saved, I've designed a single-sided extremely large oil cooler with thermostat, all braided lines, the whole nine yards. It'll be mated to the driver's cooler duct via carbon fiber ducting too.

Out of curiosity nocab, did you remove the fiberglass bumper reinforcement or are you simply going to trim out the light area? With the frp reinforcement removed, it seems like there's lots more room to run all sorts of duct work, no?

Also, did you mate the bottom splash guard back up to the bumper? Chuck said there were some issues, specifically, that there was a gap and it wouldn't reach all the way to the bumper if you tilted it down in front (at a slight angle). But if it were perfectly horizontal, you'd have to slip some spacers in there to get it to work. I do know FEED sells their own version in CF but it's perfectly flat and probably made for a front mount as a result.
Michel
