rotary extreme's feed replica
Hey Nocab,
remember you said you were going to post the comments of the shop owner regarding the original versus the replica? Another replica owner said a body man said the finish was rough and required 4 coats of primer. What was your experience?

As for smoothness of the bumper, I already explained it at the other thread. If you already got the bumper, run your hand over it to see if it's rough or wavy.
I really hate to comment on Michel's bodyshop. If he agrees, he can post his story of that bodyshop. From what he told me about the shop. that shop is not capable of doing any fiberglass work. If you still got that damaged Mazdaspeed replica CF hood, send it to me and I will have it fixed just to show how incapable that bodyshop is. Again, this has nothing to do with you. I am just not happy about the lies that bodyshop has been telling.
You should sand the bumper before you spray the primer. And after sanding, you will only need one coat of primer. If they spray 4 coats, I hope they let the primer dry long enough before they paint it. If they paint it right after, give it a couple of weeks, there is going to be air pockets appearing on your newly painted bumper due to the fumes of the primer pushing on the paint.
If you don't want your bodyshop to rip you off, buy some books from www.amazon.com regarding bodywork and painting. They are only around $10-15 and they should save you hundreds of dolllars if you go to the wrong bodyshop.
I am going to have a page on my website regarding painting of fiberglass parts. I hate to see people getting ripped off due to the incapability of the bodyshop itself.

I replied in the other thread too Chuck. My bodyshop, which was once the best in town, is now, IMO, the worst. They won't even install the FEED front end because it requires either cutting or removing the bumper reinforcement. The gel coat was a bit rough in a few places, not the bumper itself. They had to primer and fill in a few marks, sort of like scratches and sand down a few spots that had "crusties" on the edges, again, gel coat. End cost for me is probably going to be $400 additional. If anyone lives in SW Florida and is contemplating Eagle Automotive, I say look elsewhere.

NoCab,
How did you install the above? Do you have any pics of your underpan and how you affixed it to the FEED front end? There's the word I was looking for!
Chuck, any chance you could produce some CF dive planes for the FEED front end?

hmmm, ok, I have a 99 spec undertray that i am going to use. I also have left and right 99 spec brake ducts. the air guide was on back order and i think i will just cancel it, since I have a FMIC now. Hopefully once I get the car back I will figure out some custom aluminum ducting. I can't figure out where the 99 brake ducts are supposed to sit. under the car somewhere. anybody have pics underneath a 99 up?

You mean the carbon fiber undertray like the one sold by FEED or C West? How about I get you the FEED one for $400 including the installation kit?
