Thanks for the compliment Shinobi...the only thing I hate about hte hood is I cant see it while I'm driving. However I did notice people staring at me while I was driving around.

Also my neighbor of 5 months who has never said a word to me finally spoke. His first words to me were "that's a nice hood man".

I was actually planning on running a similar setup with the 99 front end, and the AD-9 on my FD, so seeing that they work perfectly together, along with the fact that the hood adds obvious cooling benefits, has sold me if I ever wasn't before.

It appears you got great fitting on both the bumper and the hood. As for the hood pins, I personally don't like them, but if the latch strength is not good enough, I guess they are necessary. Do you know aproximately how much your hood weighs, in comparison to stock?

Also, do you mind taking some pics of the hood when open? I would just like to see under it, along with thickness.

I just had a small question though, does it make a difference which location I use to drill through? I've used the bump stops behind each headlight for my stock hood, but I want touse the ones between the headlights. Is there any difference in the thickness of CF material in both of those locations? or are they both pretty much the same?
I've had friends use the area between the lights, and have no problems, however, that is only speaking of a few experiences. Have you driven the car at any speeds yet, to see where the hood 'raises' or makes wind noise a bit? Depending on where (if) this occurs, you should place your pins.

one thing that got my attention were the installation on the rotaryextreme site. Can anyone clarify what he means by it's very important that you do not drill through the second layer or you will be unable to close the hood."???
As for that, I really have no clue, without seeing exactly what's going on.

Great looking car, ludeowner!
Are you coming to SS6? I gotta see that in person...

BTW, if there's any way possible, I'drecommend putting a screen of some sort under the vents, esp if you leave the car parked unattended in lots for extended periods. I think it's just way too easy for haters to walk by & tamper with something, ya know?

The hood definately does help with the cooling. It's kinda neat to see the heat shimmering out of the hood when I am stopped.

The stock hood is pretty light, and the CF hood is even lighter. I'd say about 3-5 pounds lighter then the stock one.

I took 7 more pics and you can see them at the very end of this post. For my pins I chose to use between the lights, because on my stock hood, when I had the holes cut through the bottom, the passenger side of the hood would sit a 1/4 of an inch lower then the fender.

Another good thing about using the area between the headlights, is if you drilled the holes a bit off you can adjust the pin. The metal is pretty thin and bends easily where the pin will mount through. You just have to push or pull the pin while it is in the hole to do very small adjustments.

I went ahead and did the install of the hood pins last night. I assumed that the hood was only made up of two layers, the top with the clear coat, and the bottom that I had to cut through. I took the car for a speed test and it did vibrate a little, but it was becuase my pins were to high, which did not keep the hood snugged down. There was no rattling or any noise coming from the hood, but my BOV sure was louder.

Thanks rooter,

I really wanted to go to SS6, but that meant I would have had to take some vacation time. And right now we are really short on manpower at work. On top of that I work graveshift and have crappy days off.

I might try asking my boss again if I can take some vacation time to go to SS6. I think we may have some new people coming to work with us.

I had considered putting in some wire mesh to keep people from messing with my stuff. I might have a friend fab something up that will fit into the rain tray slots.

ludeowner,

I was thinking about buying that hood.. I just realized that my current vented hood is having some fitment problem.. i had to move my intake and stuff..

Anyhow, how close are you from the vents to the ic piping??

If you could send some more pics to me, I would greatly appreciated.. I'm not sure now.. yours was the first one to see with the 99 front.. since mine is black.. i'm not sure if I should keep the CF look or get the cheaper FG one and get it painted black.. Hmm..

Also, how is the quality??

They do, but most of them have to be imported, as they are JDM. Take a look at some sites with japanese products (www.jt-imports.com), and see what you find.

RE Amemiya does have one like that for the FC

The price is $1000 for fiberglass and $1500 for carbon fiber. Prices include shipping from Japan to California already. If you are not in California, additional shipping will be about $125 from CA to you.
