Racing stripes cool or not?

I'm getting my rx7 painted the same color dark blue as now, but I can get 2 silver racing stripes down the middle if I want. I think they would look pretty cool, but im not sure if I should get them. What do you guys think?

The only car i've seen stripes work well on is a viper, and since your car isn't a viper, I suggest you dont make it look ugly.

back in the day, dodge made race stripes popular on there muscle cars. Thats why you see a lot of stipes on dodges. If you not driving a dodge, its not cool. if you are driving a dodge, thats not cool either

DON'T PAINT THEM ON!!!!!!!!! I do all the stripes, graphics, lettering, ect on my car in vinyl. The best thing about vinyl is that it lasts 5-7 years, or a day if you don't like it, and it doesn't cost you an expensive paint job to remove them if it doesn't work out. If you need the hook-up on vinyl, shoot me back an email @ oblivionembraced@aol.com I would need the size, color and width between stripes, but it would cost you 75-100 bucks for the stripes, I'll send you the squegee, application fluid, detailed instructions, and a roll of masking tape with it to get the job done right.

My friend just spent 2500 bucks on a paint job with racing stripes, and decided they made his MAXIMA look gay (LOL) as if they didn't anyways, but now he is looking at an estimate of nearly 800 bucks to fill in the stripes.

Stripes only look good on an old 70's muscle car (Chevelle, Roadrunner, Charger, GTO, etc)

Don't know what you guys are talking about....

Stripes, if done right, emphasis on "done right", look awesome. In that nostalgic sports car racing kind of way.

When do you ever see a sports car racing around Laguna Seca without some kind of stripe or custom paint.

Men, not kids, men, have been painting race strips on thier sports cars for decades because it's sporting.

1 vote for stripes.

I think it's a generational thing. Older (40+) guys like them because the sports cars of their youth had them. Younger guys see them as ugly (as this poll shows.) Both viewpoints are valid. Just do what you like!
