Need Help with Stereo

I have a 93 R-1 without the bose system. I have looked at cruthfield in the past to see what kind of specs will fit my cars but with rare ones they usually are not correct can someone fill me in on the dimesions of the speakers, I'm not worried about the head unit. Thanks gotda love chris

Ok WATCH OUT! I have a 93 Touring w/ the Bose system and Inifinity says that I can fit 3 and 1/2 front and 6*8 in the rear. For your car this is accurate. Only thing I can tell you is that it is really hard to find 6*8's.

Other than that no probs,

And if you wanna buy a pair of 6 1/2's i have an extra pair of infinity kappa 62.7i's

Good luck

not true you can go to any car audio store and find a pair of 6x8's, Im running the same sizes drandon said 6 1/2 in the front 6x8 in the back. I use alpine cause the make all the speaker models in these sizes and make great sound.

I have Boston Acoustic SX series 6 1/2" front and 6 x 8 in rear. Fronts did require a little modification the the plastic holder. Depth is the limitation in the front door panel. 2.5" depth may be too much (with window down) unless shimed out.

My '93 had an aftermarket stereo put in it when I bought it, a Kenwood Excelion head unit, with Boston Acoustic midrange and tweeters in the door panels (and above) and then I put some Pioneer 6 X 9 (which are actually 5 X 8) speakers in as well as a Rockford Fosgate Punch XL 12" sub, powered by an Alpine V12 Expert amplifier. CRUTCHFIELD can be your friend in your search, though you may have to search around a little.

you can always make templates and put components in the front and rear if you want to get creative.

I had the bose system removed from my car when I bought it last year. I decided against mounting speakers in the rear parcel shelf as at the time I was frequently removing it to increase cargo space.

Instead, I had the audio shop remove the side pockets above the rear bins. They mounted two 6" speakers in a very stock looking foam filler (sorry can't remember the name) in those holes. Looks great and because they retrimmed the trunk carpet and covered the holes in the parcel shelf with mesh, it looks very stock.

Can't remember what size they slotted into the doors though.

You can fit mid-depth to shallower 6.5" speakers in the doors. Proper size for the rears are 6x8.

I got pioneer rev components and 6x9's yesterday- the 6x9's dont even come close to fitting, and I spent the better half of last night installing the components. Had to make a new bracket for each door speaker what a bastard, I would rather get kicked in the nuts by a horse than install another set of component speakers.

My Boston 6.5 in SX components went into the door with out too much trouble. cut the back out of the plastic speaker carrier, cut of some of the box blob to rear of speaker to may room for the crossovers. Now crossovers and 6.5 mids are integral and install in one piece, was nice to wire up on bar counter. tweeter just fits on window sail.
