I have a sunroof also and I'm 6'3". I'm doing it for the same reason. I have those rails and I'm getting Cobra Suzuka Pro GT seats like Wompa. I'm hoping between those two modifications it will give me enough space to fit with a helmet.

If anyone's looking for Bride seats and/or rails, their website has a downloadable catalog with fitment charts (including the FD). Current link is ==> BRIDE super seat

I hope so! I sat in the Sebring GT and had a few mm to spare, which is good because the Suzuka Pro GT is 5mm slimmer lol. But I'm more concerned with fitting with a helmet. I think I will though. I'll lean the seat back a bit if I need to. I'm hoping to get the seats within the next couple months. I'll definitely report back with pics too.

I am almost certain the Tillet B6F XL will fit FDs (it was originally designed for Lotuses), and if you use side-mounted rails (Wisteria Japan, Nagai Works, Naniwaya, etc.) you should basically be able to drop the seat shell to the floor. Despite the mounting points only being 380 mm apart (really 395 since you will need spacers so the side mounts don't interfere with the seat shell and because the rails are designed for 395 mm seats), it fits my fat *** reasonably well (a bit tight but losing weight will make it even better).

Downside is that it is $$$$$ and a little heavy (pay more to get the carbon version, or a lot more to get the B7 if you don't need XL size, but want lighter seat), but it is SOLID.

FYI for everyone (and the person who asked the question), the Sparco R100 does not fit in the Rx-7. At least not with the Sparco base and rails. The bottom bolsters are too wide, they smash into the lower section of the door when you close it (could modify the seat bolster if you really wanted to make it work). It is slightly too tall, so it needs to be reclined to fit height wise. The recliners also hit the trans tunnel and the rear panel plastics when sliding back (could trim plastic I assume if you wanted too). Also, you sit about an inch higher than stock it felt like. Hope this helps someone.

My seats are coming in tomorrow, but unfortunately I broke my phone so I can't take pics unless I use an actual camera, and who wants to do that? lol I don't have my car back yet either so it wouldn't do any good anyway.

Recently discovered that Cobra Evolution Pro GT will not fit by a long shot.
What rails/mounts are you guys using for the Cobra Suzuka?
I got their aluminum side mounts and a Planted Tech. bracket and the seat is riding on my roof.

Cobra Evo GT not fitting

Planted bracket makes the seat sit too far out to the outside. How much room do you have between the seat and the tunnel? If there's no room left, you'll just need new seats. If there's room, just get new mounts. I have a Bride FX for sale

It's really more of a height issue, although moving closer to the tunnel might help a bit. The atomic rex mounts go directly down to the floor holes, which looks like it would drop everything about an inch, but I haven't seen any of those floating around for sale.

I'm using Adam Griffith's rails that will bolt them directly to the floor for tall people. I got the seats today and mounted them to the rails, but my car isn't here to test fit/install them. I'm hopeful they'll fit since they did for Wompa but I believe he's using different rails. My buddy was talking about coming by tonight and he has his passenger seat out so I was going to test fit that side at least.

I will say though, they fit me like a dream! Perfect width.

I forgot I can take pics with my iPad lol.

Oh I forgot to mention the seat weighed in at about 20lbs, and the rails weighed about 5lbs. I don't remember what the stock seat weighs, but 25lbs isn't too bad.

Thanks, Rich! Unfortunately it turns out mine don't fit quite as well as Wompa's lol. Although I still need to play around with how they're mounted in the rails (they could go back and down some still), and I didn't actually bolt them in, but they don't look like they're even close to fitting as of right now.

Both the leg bolsters hit on either side, to the point that the door won't even come close to closing. The shoulder bolster looks like it might hit right now too if the door could close (although not by much), and the top of the seat comes pretty close to touching the roof. I need to get my car back so I can do more testing with this. I really don't want to hack up new seats but I really like these and they fit me perfectly. As long as these are the same exact seats as Wompa has, maybe I'll get the same rails he's using and try that.

For what it's worth I was able to gain about an inch of extra headroom by modifying the floor boards. The front I cut/lowered/rewelded. The rear I cut out and used some plates with bolts sticking up.

I just received my second Suzuka Pro GT for the passenger side and ran into similar fitment issues as Speedjunkie, even without rails. I think the issue has to do with the asymmetrical shape of the transmission tunnel cover and passenger door, probably a bad idea on my part to assume the driver and passenger cabin spaces were identical in size.. I'm having HMS send me another seat in the regular width for the passenger side as it will be 1" smaller all the way around and should help fitment, will post back here once I receive it.

This is mounted on Atomic Rex rails (thanks J-AUTO) and is probably about as low and far back as you can mount a seat. With the seat and Nardi 330mm together, I have incredible legroom for the first time since owning this car - it's almost like driving an open-wheel car with my feet straight forward. The seat and harness made a HUGE difference regarding the responsiveness of the car and my ability to drive it too!
What pad options did you go for on those Suzukas? Roughly how much head room did you get out of it? I'd prefer something still fairly comfortably, but I'd take "Not killing my neck" over a sore butt if it comes down to it.

I went from no headroom at all to 2" and much better seating position. For the pads I went with standard profile but if I were to do it over again I would probably do low profile front cushion (thigh bolster).

Nice. I might buy one if I can hunt down those brackets. I emailed the guy who used to sell them but he didn't get back to me unfortunately.

I'll also need to decide if I want red or black to go with my red interior.

So I have an fc and just got corbeau gts 2 seats and they are amazing seats and fit great but they are waaaaay too tall. My head hits the roof. And I'm 6'2". Do the cushions sink down and break in? I really want these to fit.
