I'm begging for help! Has anyone replaced...

I'm sorry to sound like such a wuss... but I have been looking through old posts and I can't find what I am looking for.

Has anyone in here with a "touring" rx7 replaced the speakers in their car without changing the Bose head unit and cd player? I can't get a straight answer from any car stereo shop as to whether this is possible or not. The reason I want to do this is because car stereo theft is very common here and I want to keep everything looking factory installed. Maybe you can help?

Thanks!
Ryan

It all depends what you are looking for. You can upgrade the stock speakers but you are not going to get completely awesome sound. You could run a set the speaker wires to an amp that has the ability to accept the speaker wires as inputs instead of RCA's or optical. This will give you more power and the ability to get awesome sound; however, you do need to consider the source and you are limited on how clear the sound is coming from the OEM unit. The OEM is no alphine.

The connectors get snipped and add new female, or solder, or weld, your choice. Just keep positive to positive or the larger conector and negative to the smaller connector. The new speakers should have a diagram of what is what.

i have a 94 touring I have the STOCK HEADUNIT ran to a 520 watt amp powering 2, 12inch pioneers in a custom made box
there is a part that best buy sells that connects to stock speaker wires at the back of the headunit so you can run RCA cables to a AMP
I forgot what it is called in the store, but I can find out if u need it
