HV/ACFD ***** turn all the way around, normal or broke?

Picked up an FD & as the title says, the heat/AC ***** etc on the dash seem to turn all the way around, though with some resistance. Can't tell if it's part of the design so that you can't break them, or if they're cracked on the back, as they feel almost as if they've got some kind of spring mechanism on the other side. May explain why my "AC" blew hot when I tried it though, if the ***** aren't lined up with the graphics.

have you try popping the **** out to see if it's broken? I dont believe it will turn 360*. If so, it is most likely broken.

Naa, wasn't sure exactly how they came out or had time to look it up yet. They need replaced anyways @ some point though. Contemplating the rotor shaped ones or stay stock, not that I've currently got the $$$ to blow on some *****, but.. lol.

Mine was like that when I got it. I didn't do the replacement but my AC **** was replaced and all was well.

Cool, thanks for the clarification. I need to get my other little stuff ironed out so I'll have the $$$ for replacement items like this when they surface momentarily on fleabay - it's been painful watching various interior goodies disappear before my eyes!!

As per my last reply, I was right.. AC works great when the ****'s not twisted around too many times/properly lined up. The temp dial's in the worst shape this way, though they're all in need of replacement.

Try this.

1) Pull the **** directly towards you. May require a little pressure/wiggling.
2) When the **** comes off it will reveal a post/nut.
3) Sometimes the nut will back off/become loose over time. Set the post into a position so that the **** is set to the lowest/off position.
4) Lock nut down.
5)...
6) Profit.

If this doesn't work...you ***** are most likely broken.
