Eddie do you want to keep the Bose system or get something else? I'm very pleased with the Infinity Reference speakers I picked up. Inexpensive and good enough for me!

Looking for some advice...

I currently have the entire bose system in my car, except for a Sony cd player. The left channel is goes in and out and it drives me crazy (not to mention the system sounds terrible in general even when the left channel is working).

Simple plan: purchase these brackets, install some slim speakers in front doors powered directly from my Sony receiver (no amp), and wire a self-amplified 6" Bazooka tube in the rear straight from my Sony receiver. Is there any reason this won't work?? I assume the Bose system would be completely bypassed and I can rip it all out of the car at that point.

THANKS for the advice. These really look like great adaptors.

Hi All! Those look like the design of the gentlemen originally creating them...who I didn't hear from for a good 2-3 months after I sent my last round of fitment suggestions.

What I can say from my experience with the seller:
1) These are very well made.
2) He provides nice instructions.
3) Price is very reasonable

Items that may or may not be important:
1) The test brackets I was sent were not CNC machined. If these actually are...then that is an improvement.

2) It appears my final suggestions were not noted in regards to a missing mounting point and if so there will be a decent gap that is not sealed against the door with his design.

I'm looking forward to feedback on this final design from the guy who bought them. I believe most people will be very pleased with the Ebay design (FYI you might get banned for posting that link if a mod notices) and can't argue against purchasing them. My guy is still implementing my suggestions and God knows when he will finish. Then again I'm a super perfectionist but lets face it...this isn't something you see behind the door panel! =)

I'm just going to wait and see what you put out and maybe buy all the brackets as a set for an overall cheaper price. And I don't have the need to buy them at this moment so it's better that I wait.

Yea I'm not going to bash his product at all. I think it is good and we wouldn't have anything without the original thread starter contacting him.

My honest opinion is that there are a couple more improvements that could be made...improvements that were hard to communicate because he did not have R1 brackets or a car in front of him.

I do feel that for the price he is selling them for on Ebay it is hard to go wrong. Like I said I have other items to try and create as well. =)

Talking I bought

Have waited for over a decade for my stereo. I'm patient. Will be taking door panels off to place new sb aluminum handle. and new speakers (boston acoustic 6.5's bought seven years ago) and rewiring things. Thanks for the help.

Got them in the mail today from the e-bay link. A few notes, sorry, no pictures for now,(took them, but won't be able to upload them for a while).
I did NOT get spacers for the raised portion - I had to fab some of my own,(and they ARE required).
I have older Memphis 6.5" 2.5" deep speakers. I had to grind down the mounting ring a little to get it sit flush.
With just the flush parts screwed in,(not the raised portion of the adapter), the 6.5 clears the window. I had to make some pretty long spacers for the raised portion - like 1"+ And I ended up not quite making it perfect and it leaned the frame back towards the window - and it was a hair too close. I solved it with a foam spacer behind the speaker that came with the speaker,(its about 1cm).
Bottom line - good product. ZERO instructions provided with mine and ZERO spacers. I will get back in touch with him to find out what happened.
Shipping was fast.
Issues:
Might have to grind down the ring to get some 6.5" speakers to fit - not too big a deal.
Close fit for very deep 6.5" speakers such as mine w/a big magnet. Check clearance with the window down and the flush portions screwed in, - i.e. wait to screw the raised portion that clears the wires for the door,(it is obvious what I'm talking about if you have the adapters).
Once you verify its good - now install the spacers - is it still good with the window down? If not like mine - get some more spacers/make your own. Thick nuts plus the spacers may be the trick.
Sorry for no pics - not a lot different than what you see earlier in the thread. Oh, on the two screws that need spacers - no longer screws are provided, so expect to source your own set.
Last, watch the wires for the power mirror switch and window switch - they are close and need to be routed carefully from the speaker. I put an adel clamp:

on the upper one to hold the power window switch. It won't work holding both. I picked the adel clamps up at Home Depot or Lowes.

Hey Niz. I am still developing these only because I believe they can be made better.

A local guy ordered a set and they look EXACTLY like my demo set...very rough...I find it hard to believe these are CNC'd but I may be wrong. I'm kind of surprised to hear that some of the mounting screws, spacers, and instructions are not included now.

Where I'm at right now: The brackets are at my clients in Vegas to be machined BUT he is backed up from Christmas. It could be another 30 days before I get my first batch in. I really can't complain since he is helping me out as a favor (plus he thinks FD's are awesome cars).

We are going to try and focus on the rear brackets next to see what we can come up with there and I'm looking at doing a couple of other items apart from what has been mentioned. =)

Niz...I'm actually going to PM you about something in a bit as well. =)

The ebay mysteries are poor quality. The material could have been lighter weight. its very thick for what it is. The riser is just several flat pieces. I havent had time to photograph it. This would be something for a budget to the max build.
