amp question

hey i was wondering if it would be safe to run an 800watt audiobahn amp just off the battery without puttin on a cap. do you guys think it could burn out the battery or maybe even the alternator by running it like that. i think that might have happened with my old battery but it was a pretty generic pos so i expected it anyways. then again there were a few problems that could have fried my batt, so im not sure if it was the amp. the current battery i have is an everstart with a 1000amp crank rating at 32 degrees and like 850 or something at 0 degrees. i dunno if that would have anything to do with it, but i just threw it in. anyways if i could get your input it would be helpful.

nick

p.s. the amp is powering 2 10" jbl's.

800 watts is nothing big, the watts doesnt matter, what is the fuse amp rating, thats what tells you how much of a load will be put on your alt. at full power

Yea, a cap makes a difference, but I wouldn't say it makes a HUGE difference, I use a streetwires cap (suposedly the best on the market), with my JL/Eclipse system, and I don't think it does that much, I think you'll be fine without one till you feel like upgrading your system more
