I bought my rx7 and it has a really old alpine unit that i want to replace cuz it's crappin out on me, and i have no idea how to take it out. Usually with modern head units u can take the lil plastic surrounding off and then slide some long thin metal strips on both sides and then the head unit slides out, but it doesn't look like that'll work on this one. any help is greatly appreciated.

 

I have had the same problems trying to get the factory head unit out (FD model). For some reason I am not able to remove the dash peice that surrounds head unit.
Help is greatly appreciated...
