alpine CDM 9801 install

hi,

i got this head unit from a friend. he bought a new one, i installed it and he gave me his old alpine.

wiring was easy done in less than 30 minuets..

problem is im not getting a constant 12v at any wire and im not getting the 12v ACC either.

checked the 7.5amp room fuse and the 20amp audio fuse and they both are okay. FSM says wiring is bad and i need to rewire but WTF??? my stock radio was working before i pulled it out... please help.. S5 NA wiring thanks

just use a test light to see what is constant 12v. You are bound to find one. If not then run a wire from the battery worse case scenario but ide try to find a wire inside that will have a constant 12v. You could rewire but sometimes thats a pain in the ....

You probably rewired already but, how is there no voltage from the original wires and your original radio was working? You probably blew a fuse

The +12 battery should be on a blue/red wire at pin 1C of J-01 (which plugs into the rear of the stock radio). There are 2 fuses in this line, the 60A MAIN fuse under the hood and a 7.5A ROOM fuse under the dash.

The +12v Ignition should be a blue/white wire at pin 1A of J-01. This one also has 2 fuses, the 100A MAIN fuse under the hood, through the ACC terminal of the ignition switch to the
20A AUDIO fuse under the dash.

If you're reading 0v everywhere, check your battery power and ground connections.

Here's a link to the wiring diagram for a '91 RX7.

You can't ground to plastic. Gotta be metal that's electrically connected to the negative battery terminal.

Got an ohm-meter? Connect one lead to the battery negative and touch the other to your selected "grounding" point. It should read very near 0 ohms.
