A dyno test cannot even be compared or come close to a real world test during sustained operation levels.
The only way to know the truth is to actually test it on the application it's intended for.
With that said from my experience and others on high horsepower/rpm rotary applications they did not perform as claimed.
One thing I've learnt in this buisness is that experience in not gained by reading and believing the hype or jumping on the bandwagon like most do but by actual R&D or trial and error.

well we just purchased some LS1 coils for use in our FSAE car so we are hoping they are going to be able to take at least 12k rpm. Eric over at haltech tested them for us and he said they were working fine on the bench at 16000 rpm with 6ms of dwell. so i think im going to run 6ms and we shouldnt be going over 12k. ill report back and how they did. im going to install em in the next hour or so.

well drove the car around tonight and it seems that the coils are working absolutely perfectly at 12000 rpm at 6 ms of dwell. that is the limit of the haltech currently because of the crank wheel so i probably wont go any farther then that.

heres another believer in LS1 coils

For your's and a lot other applications they do work flawlessly. Now there are some where they don't. You can't beat the setup for it's simplicity and cost though.

oh yes of course. there is NEVER a one size fits all product, but for the vast majority of things the LS1 coils are great.
