Tacho on elite 1500

Hey guys I have my fc starting and running now...I have my tach signal wire wired to the yellow/blue wire by the brake booster...when I crank the tach needle jumps up to like 5k then the car starts and it just stays at zero when the car is idling...revving won't even move it...I never changed any settings on the base map...its a 2 pulses per cycle...tacho needle sweep rpm is at 0...active state at low...are these correct? I would think im hooked up to the right wire otherwise the tach would t be jumping while cranking...setting issue?

well crap, i used DPO3 for my tach...in the elite wiring diagram it shows DPO1-3 can all be used for tach and i had already used DPO1 for something else so i used 3, but indeed it is still the case that only DPO1 has a pull up...Ill have to switch them...thanks for the help...first time with a lot of this stuff

Here's my configuration that I have yet to test:

Tacho Output - DPO1
Active State - High (Held at Pull-Up Voltage w/ Internal Resistor)
Pull-Up Voltage - 12v
Pulses Per Cycle - 8
Tacho Needle Sweep - 8000 RPM (FB Series 2 Cluster)

I think that's right. ALSO, something I totally overlooked until today is OMP for a S5 Turbo II motor or S6 has 142 Steps in it!

S5 Turbo II OMP Settings:

OMP Input - AVI10
Pull-Up is Disabled

STEP 1 (Stepper Motor Controller) - Outputs A31, A32, A33, A34
Drive Type - Low Side
Range - 142
Max Speed - 50
Invert - Disable

Thanks good info....I'll be switching the DPOs...I had my haltech boost control solenoid on DPO1, so I'll have to switch that to DPO3 and us 1 for the tach....I'm not using the omp...

Great tip on the OMP steps, I am installing a 1500 with rotary aviation OMP kit and remote oil tank.

Im bringing this back up because I am yet to get my tach working...Can someone please confirm settings for the tach on the FC cluster?

I have 12v pull up enabled, I've tried changing around everything else with no change in outcome...When I crank the car the needle spikes up to 9k and the rev limiter buzzer goes off, it fires up and the needle settles to zero and never moves...

This is an **ancient** thread, and I apologize for resurrecting it. I am currently doing this. I have Elite 750 on my S5. Runs and drives fine, just wanting to get the OEM tach working to finish up my cluster.
My setup: Pin 18 (DPO1, violet/black) wired to single butt-connector yellow/blue in engine bay near original trailing coil connector, assigned properly in Haltech NSP (not ESP; NSP is most current software and firmware at time of this posting), 2 pulses per cycle, needle sweep rpm 9000 because S5 cluster, pull-up voltage is set to 12.0v, and I have tried it with Active State set to Low or High, neither of which operate the tach. Am I missing something?

Sorry to resurrect this, I'm sure someone is gonna ask again, but you need a pullup resistor. 550/750 doesnt have a 12v internal pullup, only goes to 5v. Older firmwares let you type in 12v even though it doesnt actually do 12v.
