Question on the FD stock fans Setup
Ok Gentlemen, Heres My problem. I want to hook up my stock fans in my FD. I no longer have the stock wiring harness(not that it would help, being a 2000 model No pinouts for that wire loom). So how to I do It then? I've read some other posts and most of them have been left unanswered or questionable. I need to know how to set up the relays and how to trace the wiring either inside the car from the relays or just how to really hook up the pwm to get the fans running.
Thanks GUys, Some someone can help.

Thanks Claudio, but I want to use the stock relays that are in the car. I don't wanna gut anything more out. If it comes to it, I'll do what you said though. Thanks

The reason for asking is because with the E-8/11 you can control the various speeds at various temperatures the fans were designed too operate with from factory plus these ecu's will turn on the fans once the A/C is activated as long as it was set up to do so.
If it's an older series haltech then it's up to you to decide how you want them to operate. Also are you going to use the A/C?
The factory setup consist of three speeds one of which is activated by the A/C relay, the other by the ecu and the last one from the thermo switch. That's just a rough explaination of the setup.
Damn, I hate hearing more about the E-8's

this will help out some if you have an E6_ model

hey guys, which one of the relays are for the high speed. Think I'm gonna run a pwm to the high speed relay and that should work.
Also , what abou the a/c, any know how to hook it up?

As for the A/C you have to bridge two wires under the dash close to the passenger side kick panel for it to function properly. Basically one of the wires came from the blower control/thermostat switch to the factory ECU which depending on certain conditions the ECU would then trigger the other wire which is connected to the A/C relay.

The heater control unit GND's relay No. 1 to transfer power to the fans.
The PCM GND's relay No. 2 and No. 4 to transfer power to the fans.
The thermo switch GND's relay No. 3 to transfer a second GND to the fans.
My guess is if you GND all three of the above red lines, you will get fans on HI speed.
You can straight up GND relay No 3. as an extra ground will not run anything thing with the ignition on. Get creative and tie the heater control unit's wire and ECU wire together and hit them with a PWM wire from the Haltech.
