More Elite teaser videos

I'm not a fan of auto tuning in general because it's rarely worked well. Matt explains Haltech's approach with the Elite. There is also some explanation on the 4d mapping that is now available as well. This feature has worked incredibly well on the piston engines I've worked with so far.

Wow, Haltech's autotune is now where MegaSquirt's was 5 years ago. Glad they caught up because the autotune features of the last series of Haltech's were quite frankly a joke and I though it was dishonest Haltech even advertised any sort of autotuning feature. Sort of like Microtech advertising their I/O on the LT8 series (or even LT10).

Call me lazy in my old age but I make extensive use of autotune when setting up Megasquirts. I've tuned enough fuel maps in my time to know I can twiddle the numbers until I get the AFRs and engine response/power I want. Now I let autotune do the job and it cuts hours and hours off tuning time. Then the fine tuning takes place after autotune has generated me a nice smooth table.

I find lots of the features on the haltech are very poor. They sound great, never work as advertised.

If you compare the eflex in the sport series compared to the elite series. It really makes you wonder why the sport series has not been upgraded.
Its light years apart!

Simple answer, the Elite processor is a new processor, the Sport processor is already 8 years old. Try running windows 8 in a Pentium IV single core with only 512mb of ram.

At any rate, the Flex fuel stuff works very well in the Sports, it will work great in the Elite.

I've begged for 60-2 and 36-1 support every chance I've gotten. There's no reason why they shouldn't.

Crank windowing is supposed to be coming soon for the knock control, which is a proper feature. If you're using a feature like that, high resolution triggers are a requisite, IMO.

Was told split timing and staged injection in February. Also the Elite 1500 model should come along about the same time. Lower price, 4 injection and 4 ignition drivers, same number of inputs is what I was told.

I know that the ECM market for rotary cars are only a small percentage of sales for haltech, but I can't help but feel left out with the elite release.

I certainly hope it comes through with some real improvements, lest they risk alienating this community.

So then, is there any reason for a 2-rotor to run a 2500 over a 1500?

Not really, unless you need a ton of outputs. If you're running OMP and DBW and several other things, you may need the 2500. Most builds won't.

It likely means that in coding the ECU, they haven't implemented a universal wheel decoder and instead are coding for specific wheel patterns. Trigger code is probably in the wheel code and NOT separated into an ignition loop like it should be. Thus to change the wheel code to allow rotary for other tooth patterns means recoding the whole decoder routine.

I'm just guessing though only basing it on the evolution I watched in the code from MS1 to MS2 to MS3.
