Haltech Injector wiring question
Injector wiring question
Hi guys I was wondering how did you connect the wires that are supposed to have 12V running to them? I want to make this look as neat as possible
This is pretty much a custom install into a race car so I don't have all the factory wire harness crap that is usually in the stock car. Thanks

On the Sport and Elite long flying lead harness, run the red/blue wire to the rear iron area, cut it there and splice down to 20g wires for each individual injector. Use a non-insulated crimp butt splice and cover with double wall, glue lined heat shrink. Process will be the same with a Sprint, but you'll need to build your own power circuit with a fuse and relay.
Is it ok to solder the wires and then heat shrink or is the butt splice better. When I pulled the stock harness out of the car it looked like the factory just crimped the wires together like on the ground wires etc. I believe they did the same with the injector wires. I was just thinking solder would be better.
When the solider penetrates into the wire it gets brittle and is prone to breaking/failing. A proper non solider crimp with adhesive lined shrink will provide the best splice with stain relief to pretty much eliminate any chance of failure.

i agree with the theory that crimping is better, but i'm really good at soldering, and really terrible at crimping; even with the right tool, that for ME soldering is the better choice. i know on the internet theory > practical application, but if our lives depended on my crimping skills we'd be dead.
