Help downloading e8 software

I am picking up an E8 this weekend. I would like to download the software ASAP but am having problems.

I have gone to the Haltech website and downloaded the E8 v1.62 and v1.89 versions but am unable to open either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...maybe I can't get the solftware to run because it's 2:00am and my brain is very tired

thanks....

You need to unzip the file before you try to install it. Have you done that?

Is this a tablet PC? If so it won't work with the E8 software.

Instead of double clicking the icon to get the where you are above, right-click and select unzip. Once it's unzipped you will be able to install the software.

Do not double-click the icon for the zipped file that you downloaded.
Right-click that icon and this menu will appear.

Select the option I have highlighted in the above screen shot - extract to here.
Once the file is extracted there will be another folder titled Halwin 1.xx. Double-click that folder. Inside that folder will be a single folder titled Install Disk. Double-click that folder. Click on the Setup icon. That's Setup, not _Setup. This will install the program.

You have to unzip or extract the files into another folder first. You should wiki what a zip file is. Its just a compressed file for faster download and email. You have to unzip or extract the file before you can try and run the setup. I'm surprised you have never dealt with a zip file before as they are rather common.

Did you extract just the one file or all the files in the zip file? You need to extract all the files.
