E6K issues..

I cannot get my ecu to hook up to my computer. im using dosbox with windows 7. i have a prolific serial to usb adapter. It simply just doesnt connect. it just sits at 0%. i have tried to mess with COM ports or whatever, but im a fab guy, not a computer nerd lol (no offense fella's)

It also does the same thing when i dont even have the box plugged it. I have also tried it with another laptop on windows xp. It has the same issue. just doesnt load. it doesnt even say "reconnect Haltech" I dont know what to do..

I want to drive my car lol

also, im running a hardwired fuel pump. so i cant listen for the sound of that to determine if my ECU is getting power.

anywhere else i can check and see if its getting 12v?

thanks a lot guys

Yeah Windows 7 with that setup is a hit or miss. I have 2 laptops with 7, one works and the other one doesn't. Also freezes sometimes when online, Vista works great though.

You probably don't have something right on the dosbox configuration, here's a pic of the configuration file. Also when you edit the file make sure you turn off the user account control(it won't let you save the file correctly)

Also for the power, u should be able to see that on the relays-hell you can here them clicking on. why would you have the fuel pump hardwired? There's 2 wires for the fuel pump from the haltech relays-both are orange, 1goes to the battery and the other goes to the fuel pump(doesn't matter which)

yeah, the dell i have coming has been whitewashed and has windows xp. but it comes with a serial port.

Fuel pump is hardwired because i had it hard wired with the OEM computer. so that way i was sure i was getting proper voltage.
i havent tried to start the car because i still need to put premix in and the uim back on.

Well that's definitely the wrong way to wire it up but... Are you sure the oem ecu was working right? Anyhow wire the haltech 1orange wire to the fuel pump and 1 to the battery. Next, get a voltage tester and just measure the orange wire coming out to see if the relay is working right and it's getting the signal from the ecu to turn on(or just listen to the fuel pump priming.

Figured it out. I had the 12v switched wired up to something that wasn't doing anything. Problem solved. I can hear the relays click on when I turn the key.
