How to raise idle when A/C is turned on on a Haltech E6K??????????????

Just have some questions for you guys I hope you can answer. Ive got two problems with my car ever since the Haltech E6K was installed (about 2 years ago) First of all whenever I start my car it idles and the needle drops to 1000 RPM and the car shuts off. Second whenever I turn on the A/C the car does the same thing, the RPM needle drops below 1000 and shuts off. I have tried everything and nothing seems to help. I even installed a stall saver from RP and the same thing happens again. Sometimes I even need to crank the car 2 to 3 times in order to get it started. Does this problem happen to some of you guys who have single turbos with a Haltech E6K??? Please help with this problem. its really bothering me????

It could be many different things happening from ignition to fuel. Does it only do it when the car is cold, or does it do it all the time. What is the antistall thing that RP sells? Where did you get your base map from to get the car started the first time. What have you done to try and fix it?

Single turbo, twin turbo does not matter. The car should idle rock sold unless you have some massive ports or some really cold plugs (and that changes once the car is warm).

If you email me your map I can take a peak at it and see if something is obviously wrong.

Hook up your idle air control motor. That is what I did. This entire summer I had my ac working.

Car idling at 800
Turn AC on
Idle drops for a sec then back up to 800

At the moment winter is approaching in NYC. Adjusted the coolant maps but also changed the idle settings
Changed idle to 900 (higher charging)
Car starts and any temps under 170deg will idle at 1100
After coolant sens sees 170 deg temps idle drops to 900
Fans come on at 190 and shut off at 185.

All this can be done by hooking up your Idle air control motor (i think thats whats its called) and using your PWM outputs.

Hope it helps

So, Anthony, what are the parameters you use inorder to make the IAC work? You mentioned connecting it to one of the PWM outputs. What is the period (if you are using the BAC-Bypass Air Control output option) and other applicable setting.

I used my BAC valve to control my idle when using my AC. Each car needs to be set up independently so if I give you my parameters it probably won't work in your car. Here's how I did it...
wire the BAC valve to one of your PWM outputs. go to your PWM outputs in your software and enable your PWM to " BAC valve". I think mine is set around 33 or something close to that. This will disable your idle speed motor on the output options page. Set the idle rpm to about 500 rpms and use the idle set screw to set the rpms around 800 rpms. Now go to the idle control motor settings and set the idle where you want it. Mine is set at 900 rpms. You will also have to set your cold idle and startup idle. Mine are set at 200 each. This means when you start the car up it will idle at 1300 rpms. About 20 seconds later the idle will drop to 1100. Once the car is warmed up it should go to 900 rpms and stay there. Now you want to go to your warm idle min parameter. keep upping this number until your rpms rise slightly above 900 rpms then drop it down one number. you also have a cold min position. You'll want to up this number when the engine is cold until the rpms rise above 1100 then bring it down one. The hot and cold opening positions are the last 2 to set. this controls the rpms on initial startup. you will have to set it at like 20 then start the car. If idle surges up past 1100 when the engine is warm then then turn it down and restart the car. You basically want to set the warm open postion so that when you initially start the car the engine sticks at 1100. You have to adjust the cold open position when the engine is cold. You want the engine to stick at 1300 rpms when you initially start a cold engine. I set my steps at "10" and it seem to work fine. Now turn your AC on and you should see the bac bump up the rpms when they begin to decrease because of the extra engine load. If this doesn't happen then email me and I can walk you through it. I hope I didn't miss anything and this answers some questions.
One more thing I wanted to add. Some people have been having the problem of the car stalling when you are inching forward then coming to a stop when you are at a stop sign or something (right antony?). I initially thought this was a BAC setting I had screwed up. Turns out I was just running the car too lean at the low/ idle rpms. When I richened the car up the problem went away. I just thought I'd throw that in there. Good luck!
