Deciding between E6X or an E8 for a S4 FC

I am currently deciding between haltech E6X and an E8 for S4 FC
If i do choose the E6X im worried about the reluctor problem.
I heard that E8 doesnt have the reluctor problem.

Also I am not sure which package should I get.

Im stuck in between the flying lead kit and the ultimate Package.
Which one would you guys select.

E8 - flying lead.

I use an E6X and have no issues with ignition pick-up

I'd like the bells and whistles of the E8 though.

Im going to go out on a limb here and say that there are NO issues what so ever with the E6X, the thing to take not of is basically that the trigger circuits and configuration setup on it are indeed different and more sensitive than the previous versions in the K, the only thing to watch out for here is basically properly setting them up. I have installed plenty of E6Xs and never had any problems once i found the correct combination for any particular engine.

The only engines i have seen with EXTREEMLY noisy triggers/reluctors are Honda D and B series engines, those are by fare the worst, but it can be worked out with the proper gain and filter setup.

So, it only boils down to what features you want and what kind of budget do you have. Since the E8 is about 300 dollars more than the X but has a few more interesting things to offer.

"Thanks my story and im sticking to it"

I'm with Cladio. There is nothing wrong with the X. It's just needs to be right and that sometimes is a fine line.

Having said that, my retail price for the E8 is only $199 more than the X. The X does come with the internal MAP sensor that the E8 does not. The difference to me is that the E8 does have more features and more resolution. The boost control feature alone is worth the extra money IMO.

I learning toward e8 or e6x flying lead.
If i do get a flying kit what do i need to get?
I know The sensor, Air temp sensor, water temp sensor, map sensor, and o2. Also the connecting terminals. What else do i need?

Do you even know what you're getting yourself into?
Can you contact a competent tuner that can help you with this?

I've never had to need an O2 sensor (from Haltech).
I dunno why you would "need" to buy one.

All you need to get to start your car is the ECU, harness, temp sensors and a proper TPS, since the S4 TPS isnt compatible with the haltech, you can get an S5 throttle body with the full range sensor and that will also work, or you can just retrofit a Haltech TPS onto yours, theres a post around here on how to do that. Other than that, the rest is just connecting what you need. You still havent mentioned what you want to control with the ECU, other than the obvious of course, so all things point to an E6X, if you dont plan on runing too many additional features. The E8 has a couple of more inputs and outputs than the E6X, has a lot better resolution, more adjustability of the load/rpm points, closed loop boost control (and by gear), actual AFR display, target AFR map (with the new firmware), additional tuning maps, and more features overall.

Then it comes a question of price, how much do you want to spend. There are a few places you can get your system from, but if you've never installed or tuned one before, i recommend you take to a reputable tuner/installer and dont wast 3 months of your life trying to figure it out, you'll be up and running a lot quicker, and any questions you have along the way will be answered easily.

Good Luck. And yes, i also sell them.

I want to keep my A/C with with the Haltech, but i am not sure will that be a problem and with a FMIC. Also I notice the TPS problem. Basically i want the ECU to control 1600cc secondaries injectors and 750cc primaries. Im swapping out my stock turbo for a GT35R. Also i want a separate Boost controlling unit. Unless the E8 can do a better job of it.

Well, with the E8 you get a few more features, and boost control through it works really well. But, getting an external unit frees up the haltech for other duties, it all depends on what you want. And yes, if you can keep your AC compressor you will be able to keep your AC with the Haltech, and control it, again, its just a question of how many additional things you'd like to control.

Yeah man, ive set and installed plenty of units, and in almost all of the applications its either not set right from the begining, or someone did something wrong and fried something.
