bucking when boost drops...

s4, e6k, 550/1600, FMIC, BNR stg3

OK.... I got the car running pretty well, getting ready to take it to KDR to dyno it....

I have one issue yet that i can't figure out..

If i'm out beating on the car on a back raod.. and I start boosting it and then let of the gass a little, like getting ready for a turn.. and the boost drops close to 0.. the friggin car goes apeshit rich and bucks like it just sucked a skunk through the turbo...

this doesn't happen under the vac side you can take it up to 0 and let off the throttle and then get back on and nothing happens, car runs fine..

gotta be a fuel issue...

Decel cut is on..

the only thing i have bugged out right now is that the map sensor is t'ed into the line for the FPR and Boost gauge.. (i know i know but i was out of vac line....) could that be causing the map sensor to read high as the boost drops?????

Suk'n Skunks

[QUOTE=the friggin car goes apeshit rich and bucks like it just sucked a skunk through the turbo...[/QUOTE]

thats pretty stinky...

first of all what AFR's are your maps at around 0psi steady at high rpm (were your letting off at)?

another factor could be throttle pump values. i dont know weather haltech knows the difference between gassing it and letting off. you might dumping fuel do to the rapid pedal movement.

try backing the above 3k tp values way off see if this helps

it might be wise to have the shortest and most direct (nothing else tapped in) to the MAP sensor line for quick resonse.

What is the decel cut RPM set at?
I hope it's under 2,000RPM?
If it is, some of your really high vacuum (more to the left) might need to be tweaked a bit leaner.

It sounds like when the decel cut turns off, the fuel map is too rich for that high vacuum...

Ted... Doesn't do it at all under vacuum.. only if you let off the gas s little, like when you are on it and let off a bit to check your mirror before you change lanes and the boost drops lower.. I'll check the decel cut pretty sure is under 2k

Pistons .. Ya know... I wonder... I'll have to cut the throttle pump out above 3k and get back to ya on that one... I was monkeying with it a while back after i got everything else tuned...

Peng.... Not necessarily right after the staging bar.. but like if i'm at 10 PSI and I lift a little and it drops to 5 psi.. BUCK-O

As soon a ZKeller gets his beast dialed in with the new ground zero LIM.. (that thing ins HUGE), i'll slap the wideband back on the car and do some more tuning before i take it to KDR... and data log it so i can see exactly what its doing..

it is either your staging bars are offset... or you need to as ted said lean out your "high" vacume area, do you have a datalog? it would be really helpfull to take a look at a data log.

Zkeller still isn't done with the wideband yet.. he's having problems setting the new auto-tune on the autronic ECU..

However.. this isn't happening under vacuum.. it happens under boost... lets clear tha up.. the area to the far left "high " vacuum is fine... i tweaked that before i started tweaking for boost... she's smooth as a babys butt when the decel cut kicks off at 1800 RPM.

BUt i THINK I'm starting to get a hold of whats going on.

I looked at some of my old datalogs from last fall when i was tuning.. at close to zero but not yet into boost above 4K (bars 10-11).. it was showing tens.. I didn't get time to lean it out before the cold weather hit and i didn't remember that until now.. so i think when the boost drops down to the staging area, around 0-1psi, its getting too much fuel....

Am i correct that most people tune 0psi around 13afr, have it to 12.5afr by 5 PSI and about 11.75 by 10 psi??? Cause thats the MO i've been working off of....

I think I may have to buy an LM-1.. just so that i can use the f'r whenever i want.. I just hate not having ownership of the stuff i might be destroying!!!!
