Thanks. We build them. Been doing FC and FB replacement harnesses for a couple years. The patch harness is for an FD.
Have you heard the price on the Haltech option? Pretty spendy.
The Haltech harness does have one really neat feature in that the ignition side of things is made in a modular fashion. We build our harnesses to spec, so it's a bit different, but I have started incorporating a connector on the ignition side to have the same modular effect. If we build the harness for stock FC coils and the customer later wants to upgrade to a different coil or CDI we don't have to hack up the whole harness and start over. We go back to the connector, unplug it, plug in another ignition harness for the new configuration and go.
It's not shown in the pics but when we build a harness we have the customer send in any of the stock components they're going to reuse (CAS, coils, TPS, etc.). We cut off the stock connectors and refit everything with Deutsch connectors. It makes fitting a replacement part a little more complicated but we feel the new, high quality connector is the right way to go. Haltech is taking a different approach in that they have sourced mating stock connectors so it's a complete plug-in option.
For anyone that's going to make it to DGRR, we should have one of the new Haltech replacement harnesses there as well as a harness we're building for the 20B FB.

I have never understood Haltech's pricing on components especially many easily available parts that are here in the US. So I have no doubt it will cost a lot for their harness. You are doing it the right way though. If I was an FC or FB owner looking for a replacement your harness would be the way I would go especially if I was afraid of doing the wiring myself.
