16,000 rpm help FD E6X

I get random 16000 rpm cells in my data log...if course this puts a little rain on my parade. Typically starts around 4k. If I down shift and the needle jumps past 5k or so I hear the rev limit beeper.

I have checked my shield and grounds for the CAS and they are solid.

Stock ignition with a MSD 6A

This is driving me crazy as I'm running to tune more than part throttle

Please help me brain storm. The only thing to change since my last set-up is a stronger ALT...as in it is grounded better and can charge 14v at idle.

Stock motor too

Ok, so, run that by me again, you have 1 MSD 6A? does that mean you have it on the leading only? how do you have it connected, also, how are you trigger settings set to? need some background.

I had the same experience with my E6x as well. I never solved the problem I just installed an E8. I assumed that this was one of the issues with the E6X and the FC CAS.

settings are what a typical FD has (gains are both 0). I ran this set-up for 13k miles with no hiccups. I installed a new motor and fixed my weak alternator.

1 MSD wired between the igniter and coil for the Leading only.

Have you tried bumping the filter settings at all, and then logging to see if they're still there?

I use the DOS software...so there are no filter settings.

I guess you recommend using the windows and changing the filters? I'll try it this afternoon.

also...my car will not run if the gains are on anything other than 0. That is why I think I have an issue with my CAS shielded cable...even though I have continuity from the shield to GND

Well, I'd give it a try at least. And I don't blame oyu for usign the dos software....Halwin can be sketchy at best when tuning I've found....its easy to use though.

haltech said one solution is to add a RA10 or MSD 8609. To condition the signal further.

Seems most here say the E6X is fine if installed correctly and this other box isn't needed...I believe mine is/use to be, since I've used it for 13k miles. Its killing me I can't figure this out.

If I were to run the RA10, what settings do I change? (hall effect?) What's a good fair price for one?

okay...another reason not to like Halwin. its seems when I changed the filters my connection was intermittent (I didn't notice the green/red bar changing at the bottom).

I think I finally tracked down the gremlin. Upon starting the new motor up, I didn't have my laptop with the DOS software...so I used Halwin downloaded for the world wide web. Not ever seeing Motrionic filter settings before, I set them to 0 like my gains. Not liking the Halwin, I moved computers and never saw the filter settings again (actually I kind of thought they were for E11 only)

After verifying the change to the change to the settings I was able to run the car up to 4500 rpms...no I just need to adjust/tune my new fuel system

so thank you
