They do, but the brace does not.

Also, can we get these in 7075-T651? And what color will these be in?

Can you make the brace work with spacers?
Think there's a lot of value in the brace?

You won't need the brace with the widefoot brackets

Out of all the mods, this is one of my favorite and a must have. Once David stop making them, that's it....but these mounts are one of a kind.

The precision, craftsmanship and quality...I would consider them a work of art.

Hi all,
Dang, it's nice to be missed! Many thanks to Mike/Blackadde/// for getting on my case (and others of you too) to get me to finish a run of mounts. I've been working on a lot of other projects for quite a while, it's time to get back onto third-gen stuff.

I've got to do a little more logistics 'n stuff prior to completing the run of mounts, and there's some redesign I need to do before making more of the bronze bushing setups. Please be patient, the intention is to have everything done by the end of April (don't send Ninja squads if I run a little late). If you have questions you can email me directly at widefoot@comcast.net, but I will also be better about checking the Forum too.

To those of you who've previously contacted me and been waiting a long time, please email me, I'm going to give you guys an additional break on the cost.

Hi Narfle,
If you're talking about the "steel strap" bushings, no, those don't work as sold by TP. They're meant for use with stock mounts and are the wrong height for use with mine. However, I did offer a modified version of the part that they're based on that's cheaper than my billet bronze mounts, if there was enough demand for them I could make some more. They're cheaper, but uglier and slightly heavier.

Hi TeamRX8,
Yup, if someone just wants the billet bronze bushing mounts I'll sell those on their own.

Aw shucks, now I have to live up to this expectation...

Thanks so much, you know a part is designed well when it both works right and looks good.

One important note for everyone ordering Widefoot Mounts

Hi all,
In fact, this really goes out to all Third Gen owners. I designed the Widefoot mounts back around 1998 when a friend asked me to help with his car's broken OEM mounts. I noticed that there was a basic fault in the stock mount design, it had an offset between the chassis mount points and the swaybar clamp. That mean that each time it was under load (single wheel bump, going around a turn), a rocking force was induced into the mount/chassis attachment point.

This near constant rocking while driving caused many OEM mount failures due to metal fatigue over time (the classic "bend a paperclip back and forth until failure"). There had been other attempted fixes to the problem, but I believe my mounts were the first to directly integrate a stabilizing clamp that prevented the rocking, so preventing mount failure. Being stiff and beefy helped too!

For those who didn't upgrade their mounts, a potentially worse issue was that some cars also fatigued the chassis mount point. This is a much more annoying thing to fix, and involves careful crack grinding and welding to fix correctly.

I mention this because almost all the cars out there are now around twenty years old - plenty of time for chassis damage to occur. My mounts will prevent damage to a sound chassis, but if there's a crack that's started in the metal around the 10mm threaded holes in the chassis it must be fixed properly before using new mounts. Please make sure to check this area very carefully before installing replacement mounts of any type.

I have my own method for repair, there may exist threads on how others do it. As long as it's done in an appropriate manner it's fine, but it must be fixed - this is a safety issue if the mount/chassis fails in use, especially on the track.

I'm only posting this in the Group Buy thread, but if anyone thinks it should go into a more general forum please feel free to repost. I'm not on the forum as much as I'd like, so this may have been talked about plenty of times before.

Thanks,
David Breslau

David,

Is the plan to machine these and ship them in bare aluminum, or will they be anodized a specific color? Thanks again for stepping up to the plate to produce these for us again!

Hi RCCAZ,
I'll do my usual black anodize, unless anyone wants a bare set so they can get theirs custom colored. Bare would be at the same cost as anodized, as the pricing is amortized over the whole lot (and it keeps things simpler).

Thanks,
David

Money?? I don't need no stinking money!!...

OK, that's not quite true, is it? Mount production will start on 4/24. I expect a week for machining and anodize prep, then another week for anodize, assembly, and shipping prep. When parts are actually ready to go I will contact each person who's said they want a Widefoot product and arrange for payment, either through Paypal or mailed check. Once payment has arrived parts will ship via USPS Priority Mail, with a tracking number emailed.

If anyone has any other questions on this, let me know. May be a little delayed responding over the next week, which will be a busy one.

Thanks,
David Breslau
