Basically all this needs to be is the original AtomicRex rack only reliably available and serviceable. No need to reinvent the wheel.

Hi,

We are communicating back and forth with Ben, I know they ran into a few issues that have now been all sorted.

I do know that a prototype rack is currently in development and we are waiting for a reply from Ben.

I will send him another e-mail now to make sure we get a reply soon.

I'm sorry this is taking so long, I my self was under the impression that things would go along faster.

As soon as I hear back from Quaife I'll give you guys an update!

Thanks for your patience guys!

Ok I've heard back.

The price per rack kit will be £185.00 plus VAT (if applicable). It will be 2.4 turn to lock. This will be just for the manual rack kit like in the sample pics below to convert your existing rack housing. It will block off the hydraulics for the power steering system. although I tried to push for complete rack replacement it was not a viable option for them, so the money save will help pay for the labour and install I figure.

I will need a 50% deposit, required in order for quaife to begin manufacturing the parts. I am trying to get a CAD drawing of the actual rack, when I do I will post it. I've decided that a date of around 2 weeks when the deposits have to be in, so Sept 30/2015 is the cut off for the Group Buy. Matt will help with organizing the order and shipment of the racks within the united states.

any other questions just ask, or email me at the same paypal address.

my paypal is zeropiston @ shaw.ca

Thanks Everyone,
Joe

For my fellow Americans, that is currently an exchange rate (British Pound to USD) of $134.

What is our current L2L?

I am now trying to think of a way to modify the OEM rack housing to make it look more "streamlined" with this kit in.

Hi guys, a few things...

In order to keep this simple (and affordable), the decision has been made to manufacture racks that will accept the newer style inner tie rods, the ones with the coarse thread pitch. This is the logical solution as these inner tie rods are more commonly available. So please be aware of this.

The photos that 0piston posted are my stock rack parts that I sent to Quaife, Ben sent these photos to us as a gesture that the parts are on his desk and that they are working on the prototype. As 0piston mention, Ben will try to get us some CAD screenshot of the rack kit model.

You could saw off the two nipples where the power steering lines attach, weld the holes and make it look all nice, you could also weld in the holes for the steering pinion hydraulics, smooth it out and paint the entire housing. This would make the housing unreversible if you ever decided to go back to manual...but at least it would look good

Payment

Hello

To whom do i send the money? Splato or 0piston?

Also, I am guessing I will need to take apart the steering rack to get this done. Has anyone done this. Does it need special tools to take it apart? Will it need to be greased periodically or does it need any grease at all?

I just don't see how three pieces of rods makes up for the solution

Thank you for the enligntment!

Quick Question,

Do you have an estimate for shipping to the states?

Thanks, waiting for this before putting in the deposit.

Hi Kanho,

0piston is taking care of the payments. Please send him the deposits etc...I will later help him with the handeling of the racks if neccessary.

Taking apart the rack is not hard. I did it twice with basic tools. There is a few great step by step write-ups on the forum. I will lenk them when I get to my comp. And yes you would have to grease the internals, and you should be good to go.

Hi wazway,

We still do not have a shipping estimate for the entire shippment from the UK to the US.

The 50% deposit that you are sending 0piston is just to cover half of Quaife's manufacturing costs. They need this in order to begin manufacturing the racks.

Along with the costs pf the rack everyone should expect to also also pay their part of:

1. Shipping costs from the UK to US
2. Custom fees/charges (if applicable)
3. Shipping from US to your individual address

I understand it's a bit complicated, bit I'll explain why.

Quaife is making all the racks as one single order/invoice. They cannot and will not charge and ship racks individually to each person. Therefore 0piston or I will have to accept this large shippment and further distribute them to everyone individually.

I hope you guys understand this and that it makes sense.

On another note, Ben confirmed that they will manufacure RHD kits as well at the same price as the LHD kits.
