Boom, Awesome. I wish I could join but money is tight after tons of work on the FD. I completely ditched the idea of the FC rack and sold that.

Keep me posted guys....Maybe later I can acquire one.

Does anyone have examples of a Quiafe manual rack and the specifications of the internals, to see its quality?

I have a Chips Motorsports manual rack at the moment, which is nice, but is an overhauled and converted stock FD rack.

Matt was saying he was going to ship first and then just divide the actual shipping amount so he doesn't overcharge us. Probably be a good idea, don't want him to be left short the remainder either

Eric, I'll get some pics and more detailed specifics on the rack. Although with their reputation I wouldn't expect anything subpar.

Spalato: I will introduce you to Ben at Quaife, and tell him you are sending in a LHD rack. Just pm me your email address. 3 bucks each should not be a problem, it may help confirm the numbers in a list.

tys93r1FD: I'll ask to see if they can just reverse the the CAD layout when they cnc the rack to make it RHD. If that works, well have over 20 and will be able to go into production very soon.

Cheers,
Joe
I appreciate that! Let me know what you're able to find out please!

Due to any subtle differences between rhd and lhd rack with positioning, components in the area etc. They would need a rhd rack sent to them to properly determine what is needed. I assume they would need to get another minimum of 20 orders before they would start producing another rack. I would see if the guys on the OZ or UK boards would be interested.

So a very cool UK FD owner offered to send his stock RHD rack to Quaife for prototyping, so hopefully soon we will have more info on the RHD rack.

Here is some information I received yesterday on the rack:

The rack bars are manufactured from EN8 steel, and the pinions from EN36 steel. These are then case hardened for wear resistance.
The rack housings, when we need to manufacture them, are almost always machined finished in LM25 alloy castings with steel inserts.

Below is a picture of some of the internals of the CRX rack they previously designed and produced. It looks nicely machined and shows the quality well.

Status update:

Spalato (Matt) will be in europe May 22, and I assume will uninstall and ship the LHD steering rack to Quaife once he settles in there. Thanks again Matt for stepping up. Once the engineering team receives it there they will strip it and start designing it. From there they will then be able to give us the accurate quote

Cheers,
Joe

For comparison I've googled some of the reviews and feedback from the CRX crowd that have the quaife manual rack installed. And if its anything that I have read, I am very excited to get this part installed, looking forward to the raw feel and the quicker driver input, can't wait!
