Eric,

Thanks for taking the preliminary development research of the past and turning it into a a delivered product, reproducing Rob's Solenoid rack with some upgardes.

Thank you for the compliment Julian.

To be honest, IF it wasnt for my best friend's FD's solenoid crapping out on him. And him complaining it coming on and off at times, I wouldnt have researched into this and produce this kit.

I am primarily his automotive mechanic and I took care of all his cars (and I get the privilege of driving his FD whenever I asked since my FD is currently converting into single turbo).

Again, thank you for supporting this kit as I am sure this will put a good smile on many twin users here!

Since the start of producing this solenoid kits. Many has gave me great advices and guidance to help me form this GB.

As of now, another member has mentioned that I should add "METAL TEE" as an option for longevity of the kit to make it an EVEN better kit.

Another option right now that I am also considering is by providing an extra "M" and "SM" solenoid with the kit so you will have 1 of each as back up/solution if in fact the solenoid broke down after warranty which is covered by me for 1 year.

What do you guys think? Will you guys consider these a great solution? Would this interest any of you?

Please give me your feedback as I would like to get more involved in this kit to provide all FD enthusiast with this service.

Thanks in advance!

So tell me your impression on this Kit as I know you said it is snappier. Do you noticed anything else that's different from stock?

Guys, if you can post your thoughts in regards to the questions below, it'll be very helpful for future buyers to understand what this system can do for them if they want to stick with TWINS instead of going single turbo.

1) How would you rate the responsiveness of these solenoids?
2) How do you like the overall kit quality?
3) How was communication between you and the seller?
4) As you satisfy with this transaction?
5) Would you recommend this product to anyone close to you if they have a FD and want to stick with Twins?

Thank you all for your cooperation, comments, advices and please post pictures of your set-up if you have time.

Cheers,
-Eric Zheng
The first thing I noticed was how responsive the KOKO test is now with regards to the Y pipe. The actuator there snaps smartly into place where the OEM solenoids was more of a lazy movement.

I haven't been able to WOT it yet but it simply feels sharper and more responsive, not sure how to describe it other than extremely responsive.

1) responsiveness - Much better than OEM
2) kit quality - very nice. Would like to see additional options such as metal T's and replacement solenoids. From talking to you I'm sure these things are good for the long haul but I would just feel better having a spare one in case I got a lemon on one of them.
3) communication - very responsive, no complaints
4) satisfied? - very
5) would I recommend? - I already have

Also I would like to add for anyone on the fence about these that yes the price does initially look high, but for anyone who has ever tried to fight with the OEM system it is well worth it.

Stock solenoids aren't cheap and getting to them is a pain in the ***. Plus even brand new they don't work half the time. In time saved troubleshooting the stock system it is worth the price of this kit alone.

Now I just needs me some BNR's....

Harold, thank you for your honest reviews and opinions.

I believe I will continue to make this kit better with everyone's input as well as yours which are greatly appreciated. Thank you!

As for those that wanted reliability yet some fun, I will try to improve on every aspect on this kit to your satisfaction as long as you tell me what you need/want and I will come up with a solution.

I believe that if people wanted me to add more to this kit like purge solenoid and such which I can also do. However I want to stick with the basic 4 kit right now, but it can be done if there is enough interests.

Thank you all for your support!

Cheers,
-Eric Zheng

After reading, "DaleClark's guide to vacuum lines and your FD" and his comment about plastic tees I decided to purchase a few brass ones and also some more vacuum caps to cover some of the unused nipples.
They are relatively cheap and will probably outlast everything in the bay.

1) How would you rate the responsiveness of these solenoids?
Like I stated previously, the car seems very responsive now.

2) How do you like the overall kit quality?
The quality is amazing, after having the harness reworked the way I wanted it I couldn't be happier.

3) How was communication between you and the seller?
Excellent, Eric was prompt to reply with any questions I had and when I needed my harness to be reworked.

4) As you satisfied with this transaction?
Yes, I would say we stumbled on some issues along the way but they were all sorted out.

5) Would you recommend this product to anyone close to you if they have a FD and want to stick with Twins? Absolutely, I'm glad I jumped on it.

btw, I purchased them through mcmaster and I bought the 1/8" brass tees and 1/8 caps.
The brass tees are a little smaller than I would have liked but they do require a considerable amount of work to get them off the nipples. I'm using hosetechniques vacuum hose btw, and they look much better than the plastic ones imo.
The caps fit very snug around the nipples but you will need to cut them as they are a little on the long side. I did manage to split one from the head from overstreching it so be careful when installing.

I've been meaning to ask you about the solenoids which are not covered by this kit.
Would there be any performance gains or reliability gains from an upgrade to these type of solenoids?

Sephek,

Thank you for answer the review questions. Now let me answer yours.

Would there be any performance gains or reliability gains from an upgrade to these type of solenoids?

As you previously stated, the car is very responsive. And Twinsinside also stated:

I noticed was how responsive the KOKO test is now with regards to the Y pipe. The actuator there snaps smartly into place where the OEM solenoids was more of a lazy movement.
That, itself has proven to be a "gain" compared to stock. But really, I have not dyno tested and do not plan to as my main goal in this custom solenoid kit was reliability and quick response from actuators in return, quicker spool/responses from turbos.

In terms of reliability. I have NOT been able to test the kit in long terms as it has only been half a year since this has been developed, finished and put on my friend's FD.

However, these solenoids were stated to be for heavy duty uses for commercial machinery and were using viton seals and rated to be used up to 100PSI, PLENTY more than enough for automotive usage.

As a matter of fact, I've had the original solenoid kit user here told me that they've bought their kit from Rob over 6 years ago, and till this day it is still working flawlessly as we uses the same type of solenoid but with upgraded specs/parts. I would proudly say that they wont be easily broken down by the abusive heat of our twins. Also know the relocation of our solenoids, heat has been reduced tremendously therefore resulting a increase in longevity.

I am not sure if your questions in regards to "from an upgrade to these type of solenoids?"

Do you mean another upgrade from the current solenoids I have? As in a BETTER solenoid than what I offer as of now? If this is your question, then I would say you are already getting the best solenoid the company offers as it has highest psi rating, heat rating for seals and such. These are purely made for heavy duty usage.

I hope I have answered your questions accordingly. Any questions are welcomed!

-Eric

Thanks for the response but I was actually referring to the solenoids not covered by this kit such as the purge control solenoid, wastegate, precontrol, etc.

You stated "I want to stick with the basic 4 kit right now, but it can be done if there is enough interests."

Ah!

Then the answer would be, no performance gain but reliability gain. They will be using the the same solenoid we are using.

Yes I do. I need a complete address to get you a full quote to ship to Spain. As I have done to Europe. Please let me know. Also, if you are paying with paypal, there's a conversion that you have to do, therefore please let me know as I can figure out the right amount for you. Thanks in advance.

LoL yeah it's a vac hose wonderland under an FD hood thats for sure.

I've got some black loom on order to run all the vac hose coming over the brake booster there into one bundle to clean it up even more.

Once the top chamber is in place you can't see any of the runs except for a couple UIM and chamber connections.

The reason I did this was to make both the source and destination of each vac hose easily accessible without having to remove anything, and to prep my future fuel/LIM/turbo upgrades.

Also I didn't note but you will need some kind of EMS (I use a power FC) to get rid of a lot of the clutter and pull the rats nest center section.

It's a bit of work getting those air pump hard lines and the middle section of the rats nest out, but makes any future work much much easier. It's also less confusing how to run the vac hose if you're not going through the nest, and you don't need to worry about caps failing or popping off either.

I still need to get stuff zip-tied up but right now at 10psi they're not going anywhere. It takes some real effort to get that hose techniques silicone off the nipples anyway.
