High power-500+

The first release will be sold as Group Buy introductory price. So everyone will save 100 to 200 off the list price right away, who knows.... maybe more discount.
cool. The auto-x season starts up about mid april. worst case scenario I can just use a stock radiator I picked up for the first event.

so for 2k I'd assume this kit should be street legal in cali right? (I know you can run front mounts in cali as long as your using the stock turbo)

in the first post, the low power vmount set up was good for 350whp, which is my goal for my fc, your more recent post says its only good for 300whp. was that a typo or has it changed? im curious which one to go with, im on stock turbo, but i plan on a bnr 3 or 4, still gathering funds at the moment though.

87TIIFC, and for everyone else.

sorry about that, I do not have the edit feature. Yes the base kit will support 300whp while being warmed up on the track. But how it works is that the core itslef will really be able to support upto 500 whp. When you do drag racing, the IC core will not heat up in those 10 to 15 seconds like the IC core will heat up in a 15 minute time attack session. So it is the same with your car, you may dyno at 400whp, but take your car to a 15 minute time attack session and dyno your car right after you will see youll be down some horse power.

Anyways the way I rate the kits is at what they will easily support when your car is already heat soaked at the track. This is the important thing about cheap IC cores and good cores. Some IC tubes are hollow. They may have less pressure drop but they will get hot fast and will not be that efficient. The garret and pwr cores I use have dense fins in between the tubes and also in the tubes. This helps the core maintain a more stable temperature.

So again I have to also correctly size the kit for the application. You will have better performance from a properly sized core made to support 300whp for the stock turbo vs a large core that is made to support 1000whp for a large turbo.

This is why I will make 3 kits like I have for the FD. This way you can decide which one will best suite your application.

Honestly, on the bigger cores, the ones the require you to be making at least a minimum 500whp for it to be efficient will hurt performance on the smaller turbos.

Well don't worry everyone. I'll start making the kit in March/April time frame. Yes it will be street legal because it does not mess with emmisions and yes it will be track legal because you will not have to modify and frame supports and what not. And yes an electric fan will be included in the kit because we will be dicthing the factory clutch fan.

2k is the target price. Each kit may be different by 100 to 200 bucks. The price should not determine which kit you need. Your application will determine which kit you need.

Still being up in the air a bit on which direction I'll take my project - VMIC vs FMIC, I think it would be good to see an option for different UIM/Elbow. As is in my case, the 13B-RE swap uses a similar setup as the REW/FD UIM/TB/Elbow.

It may be something you could offer after the GB as its definitely different then the stock T2 configuration and may not be easy to locate a tester car... but the possibility/option for it may open your market a bit.

Worse case you could just have a cheaper kit with no IC piping/couplers. Just sell the brackets, rad, ic, etc and let the customer fab the piping (this would probably be my route if I went VMIC) since everybody's setup can be just a bit different. (I've seen guys lower their runners on both RE and REW swaps, the engine may sit lower, they may have a big *** vent hood )

Keep up the progress though - ten years ago you couldn't find ANY real quality parts for the FC in this country, so I'm more than pleased to see shops putting out good products these days!

WE3RX7, thank you. It is possible to just sell the completed kit minus the piping welded on the IC for those situations. But for the most part, it will be complicated to have so many varities out there. But I believe it can easily be solved with different stlye coupling angles and different length of pipes.

All I can say is that I will do my best to make a vanilla kit.

Eddierotary,

Rew huh. Well it looks like there has been alot of interest with using fd stuff in fc's. My doner car does not have the FD swap of any type. But if someone could supply me with a loner FD uim/tb/and greddy elbow I could return those parts to them with a bit more discount on the kit they buy. That way I can have the option for FC and FD piping piping to the intake manifold assembly.

After this is all done, I would soooo love to do a vmount kit for the 1st gen RX7 if possible. As for the RX8, my future time attack RX8 will have its own vmount set-up with the eaton tvs s/c I will be using. Yeah, its the same s/c that the new zr1 vette uses..lol.

He said he was starting in 2 months a little less than 2 months ago, so I assume he's either about to start working on it or just started and doesn't have anything really together yet.

I'm sure he'll update us on the progress as soon as he starts making some.

LOL, sorry guys, Eage 8 is correct.

I have talked to the Owner of the donor car today as a matter of fact. The car will be at my shop around mid March. As far as pictures, because I am representing my business I do not wan to release any "in process photos" of parts being made. I will show photos of completed sections. Examples would be radiator set-up. Oil cooler set-up. IC set-up.

If I was just a normal forum memeber then yes, I would deffinitly post all in process pictures.

I am very sorry about this, I hope you guys can understand.

But I will update as I go.

Hey Ben if you end up needing another car to test on that is basically ready to go let me know. I have it sitting down in socal to do custom vmount/rad setup but then i had a kid. lol. I'm gonna bring the car back soon and put a stop to the setup due to my recent investment in Gerber and Pampers.

It's got hks cast mani T04S. I think this might be pretty common setup, if it isn't tell me what manifold you want and i'll get it. I want my car done already but on a newborn baby's daddy's budget.

Pineapple Street Ported motor, microtech. It's the white fc in the sig.

Thanks,
Rishie

Sorry, I actually meant rate, not the navy in general. I never knew i had color vision problems until MEPS! There were only a handful of jobs to choose from at that point, none of them involving aircraft which I wanted. So now they have me scratching my head while looking at chinese books.

Its too bad they had to retire the Tomcats. The navy might not buy the F-35, costs almost twice as much as the F/A-18 per flight hour and for an unproven jet.

I never realized Union City was that close, I'm in San Jose quite a bit on the weekends too, maybe I'll stop by sometime before I leave for Hawaii. I guess it all depends on when my orders get here. If not, are you willing to ship to hawaii?
