Here is a picture of the bracket for the steering tube. On 79-80 SA models, the tube flares at the end of it and the bracket for the 81-85 will not fit. The Delrin bushing fits because there is an insert that makes it the right diameter. So this is some info for you SA owners and you need to specify so that you get the right bracket for the steering tube.

here is what a SA22C without PS piece is supposed to look like

It's real tight but fits. You aren't supposed to attach it to the bushing. You should attach it to the shaft about 1/2" past the bushing.

Could somebody tell me the part numbers that I should be expecting from Maval? Sam still won't respond... 4 emails now about my steering rack and U-joint. I think I'm going to call Maval themselves and see what's going on.
thanks

^That's pretty poor... Wish I could help you, but the rack in the kit I'm selling was from unisteer. There shouldn't be more than a few options though, its for a fox body (79-93) mustang and I believe there is only a 20:1 and a 15:1 option. There are two u-joints, one would have splines to match the mustang rack (not sure what size spline it is, but they would know) on one side and a 3/4" DD shaft on the other, and the second u joint has 3/4" DD on both sides. That is of course assuming it's the same as the kit I have, which is should be.
Good luck.

Thanks, hopefully I'll be able to get this sorted out. Very frustrating I ordered this all back in August...

So this is some BS... Sam still won't answer the phone or respond to email requests about my missing steering kit components. Yet, check what I found posted just days ago by SHQE, looking for welding and powder coating business:

No, I wanted to have an email record of things so that I could have something to go off of if I need to get my CC company involved. Not how I want things to go! I really wanted this thing all here for me to install over my x-mas break. Car has been up in the air with parts pulled off of it for months now.

Any explanation as to why you haven't been responding to emails or answering the phone?

After some considerable delay, I got the final pieces to my steering kit puzzle and a phone call apology from Sam. So thank you Sam for finally getting things settled.
(Though I did scold him for needing to communicate better with his customers in the future, I think we're all understanding of delays that may be outside of his control, but not understanding of a lack of communication)
Hopefully Sam and Respeed will do better in the future.

Well I see everyone is at least getting what they have ordered, over time. It has been a while since the original opening of the Group Buy and now that I can afford it..I am asking should I order from the Re-Speed site or is there another option?

This was answered earlier ing the thread, but I'll post it up for you again. I used a bolt and nut to spread the brackets apart and slid it up in there. Make sure the bushings are all the way in, then put the end piece on and slide it in. You can also use a piece of threaded bar with two nuts (that's what she said) and spread them apart that way as well.

ReSpeed steering rack-$50

...Yes I realize this isn't the classified post, but it seemed fitting to post on this thread. I just copied this from the Michigan Rotary Club site. I was hoping to pass it on to someone local (White Lake, MI) to avoid shipping cost, but if necessary I will make arrangements to make sure it finds a good home.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Slightly used (approx. 500mi) 15:1 steering rack from the Respeed kit. Nothing wrong with it.........just too much steering effort for my old bones. Replaced it with a power rack, so here it sits waiting for someone contemplating buying the kit & looking to save a few bucks on the rack. $50 pick up & cash only. Was going to post on the ReSpeed site, but it seems to have been taken over by some virus or something. This is just the rack, mount bushings & the lower steering u-joint. Rod ends may need to be cut a little more if you are using the steering arms that come with the kit since I used different ones. I'll post a pic later, but most of you are probably familiar with the set-up anyway.

John

this question is for Sam!

Can you start or replicate a way to make the control arm I mentioned early to adjust while in the car? As my car sits I need to completely remove the suspension and steering components just to make a simple adjustment. It is a real problem for me and I guarantee the shop that does my alignment will not be happy about it either. Something like a threaded rod in the middle or something.

Thank you
Shawn

Seems like he's fallen off the map. There's a few threads about Re-speed in the good guy/bad guy section of the classifieds - under the "bad guy" heading unfortunately...

urgent

Hello, Sorry if this is the wrong thread to put this in but i need to contact respeed immediately. My wife purchased a rear coil over kit in october 2012 and we have not yet recieved anything or heard anything about it since.

I live in Australia and including postage it has added up to quite a lot of money so obviously i need to know where it has gone or what is happening.

If anyone can give me a contact number or anything at all that would be helpful as none on respeed website works for me.

Regards,

Luke

Unfortunately you're not alone.

Check this thread: https://www.rx7club.com/bad-fugly-bu...1011269/page5/

He was MIA for quite some time, after much complaining the above thread he came on and apologized a few weeks back, but from what I can tell still has not delivered as promised and also has not been back on here since 1/19 according to his profile.

It's a shame.

EDIT: Sorry, I just realized you also posted in that thread. I wish I could help you

Bringing up an thread from the dead I know, but in my searches of the forum (and the surrounding internet) I can't seem to find another product that does the steering rack conversion for the FB? Am I wrong? I was set on doing the re-speed front subframe but judging by the responses (or lack thereof) on this forum I figured that's not as much of an option as it used to be. Any ideas? Used one for sale?

I am in the same boat. Unfortunately, short of installing an FC subframe, which I am not keen on doing, there aren't any other options that I am aware of. I've been trying to get in touch with Respeed but to no avail. It's most unfortunate, hopefully he'll get it together and start producing this conversion again soon.
