I remember that talk and it was my car. its more apparent with the rack and pinion kit because you have a straight edge as reference for your eyes.

Before seeing your car I thought it was something wrong with my cars R&P install since I was an auto before the TII trans swap.

a question here. my car never had power steering. with this kit and rack could I add power steering?

Oh, I got more than a handful of boxes from billy in the garage waiting and more to go. I keep going to his site but I pretty much bought everything I need for now.

I asked Billy about this and he basically told me that you could add power steering, but you would be on your own. You'd need a power steering rack, which he does not sell, then you'd need to rig something up for the pump and hoses.

From what I've heard the manual rack and pinion steering is easier than the stock steering and power steering is not really needed on such a light car.

Go for it. I'm sure it would be nice to have power steering with a widebody.

no welding involved in installing the rack. a couple of things to cut off but that's about it.

I guess I only answered half that question, no group by right now, but if you guys want to gather up another 5+ people to buy them I'll run them for 750$ like Billy did originally. The run wouldn't start till a month away from now though.

How much harder is the quick ratio to turn vs the regular rack at parking lot speeds? And does the quick ratio make the steering feel twitchy at speed on the highway?

depends on several factors such as how wide your front tires are and how small your steering wheel is. Even with 225 front tires and a tiny steering wheel it isn't bad except slow speed parking but any one can "handle' it. When I go to 265's in the front then it will be a challenge.

Considering that a remanufactured steering gear box on O'Reilly is listed for $530 - 640, I'm seeing this as a much better option.

I'm keeping an eye on this GB round. Usually by the end of summer I'm feeling richer.

I need this rack to take on my friend in his Long Beach Grand Prix prepared Celica.

the instructions are hard to follow without pictures but it is relatively easy. everything is super tight and you will need to use two pri-bars for the most part.
