Where do rotor housings come from?

...and don't tell me the stork! Seriously if mazda is the only supplier, how come everybody charges something different (290-600 a piece is quite a difference!) Where do they (atkins, rb, mazdatrix, rotary shack, etc) get theirs? Is there any difference in quality? Why hasn't someone set up a deal to supply these straight from japan (maybe a group buy) and pass on the savings?
I need answers folks

The price difference is usually based on whether or not the housing is used.

All Mazda housings come from Japan. Racing Beat sells there own version but either way they are very pricey!

they all come from mazda. SOME (not all) of the price differences come from there being several different part numbers, there used to be 4 different rotor housings for the 79-80 12a's....

also different shops get different discounts, and i'm sure some shops are buying from mazda japan.

actually they grow on trees in japan, and they are harvested carefully by people who have done this for at least 3 generations....

its like the wiring harnesses, except those are made by one old guy in a cave....

I've been told by a mechanic along time ago, that there's a place in Canada that makes them, out of different material. Haven't been able to locate it though. It might be cermaic or ceramic coating? can't remember, sorry! dam i smoke to much

all factory housings are aluminum. RB makes aluminum "irons".
