Exclamation Transmission roll pin removal

Im pretty sure there is already a thread for this but it wasnt toooo helpful so i decided to make a new one. So i just bought a s4 N/a transmission for a 2nd gen Rx7, seems like its been sitting out for awhile but got it for pretty cheap and need some parts off it that i can clean pretty easily.

So there is a roll pin that is in this block where the shifter goes in too (i dont know correct terminology but im sire you get it, if not let me know) so i've been struggling to get it out for an hour now and its pretty stuck in there. At first i was using a philips screw driver but then realized it was pushing the roll pin out into the block more. so now im using the end of a drill bit (the side that is basically just a rod) And im still trying to push it out but there is no movement at all.

is there any other tool i should try?
should i spray something to make it loose?
can i take off the shifter linkage mechanism without taking out the pin?

(feel free to correct my terminology, cause i like learning about this stuff. also keep in mind that im 17 done a lot of stuff with mini engines and engine swaps for hondas with my brothers but this is MY first rx7, my brother has had one in the past but he had no problems like this.)

this is the whole block and roll pin mechanism im talking about.

the drill bit im using a long with where the roll pin.

the whole mechanism im trying to take off.

ive always found that just a normal craftsman screwdriver works perfectly. i know you're not supposed to use screw drivers for that stuff, but it just works

I always just used a punch. They come in many different sizes for different size roll pins.

I've even used nails before, but yeah, a punch is the proper tool. Local parts stores will usually have a small selection.
