Stupid question regarding breakin and rebuilds & such
If one pulls an engine apart for a coolant seal replacement or to port the intakes or such, is the breakin period still 2000 miles, or can it be driven hard sooner? If all the parts are put exactly where they came from, they'll be making the same contact, and it shouldn't require any break in period, correct?

Why are you not replacing parts?
If this is the original engine, you'd need to replace the corner seal rubber inserts and most likely the apex seals.
Replacing the apex seal springs are also highly recommended.
You go through all that trouble and no change certain wear items is going to make engine longevity questionable.
Why not pay a little extra to make sure you gain another 100k miles+ of engine life?
