rebuild question, I know it's stupid but maybe...
I'm looking at getting an 87 13bt that needs a rebuild and I have an 87 13b that's running fine except it's outa tune. I was wondering if I could use the internals from the non-turbo to rebuild the turbo. I know it wouldn't last nearly as long as a rebuild with new parts but I'm a little short on cash. Just let me know if there is anything that would cause a catastrophic failure. Also, where is the most inexpensive place to get an engine rebuild kit?

The non-turbo rotors have higher compression ratio than the turbo rotors. They could be used, but people don't do that too often. As far as rebuild kits, there is no inexpensive rebuild kit. Also, different sellers of the parts needed to rebuild an engine include different parts in there "kit" because there is no industry standard rebuild kit. Check out these web sites and you will see.

www.nippon-motors.com used J-spec motors for $750
If you just wanted to use the seals and springs, yes it works fine. You will NEED to buy an engine O-Ring set (for the water jacket) as a bare minimum and don't skimp out on getting some viton OCR rings, too.
Generally, if you surf ebay, Atkins rotary sells kits there relatively cheap (~$450 for the "rotor kit" and ~$200 for the gasket kit).
It would be very much worth your time and effort to buy a complete rebuild kit, that is, unless you enjoy re-doing things.
