Question re using apex seals?

I blew an o-ring and will be rebuilding my 13brew. The engine was rebuilt 4k miles ago. My luck has been no good =(

I will be buying new rotor housings. Will it be ok to reuse the apex seals since they only have 4k on them?

If you are going to spend money on new housing you might as well replace the apex seals. Do it once do it right. good luck!

i suppose... this engine is killing my wallet. It just seems to be a waste since they are almost new.

If they only had 4k miles on them I would reuse them. Depending on how you treated the engine as well and how the looked.

yeah all depends but 4k miles is nothing on some apex seals unless they where abused. I also agree do it once do it right. If anything buy some from RA at 182 it's not to bad and you could sell those on ebay. I'm sure people will buy them

it doesnt matter how much miles there are on it
the seals are worn in for the other housings...
if he is goign to spend a bunch of money on the engine, might as well shell out another 300??????????????????

that totally escaped my mind. anyone have any recommendations on 2mm seals? Never seen any for 300, they usually are around 500 from what i can tell.

edit: oops didnt see hondahater's post. are the RA ones good?

Also, anyone reccomend a shop in the SoCal area that laps irons? I'm sure my irons are fine, just want to be prepared if they are damaged.

Get them measured to see if they are within spec....4K isn't terrible, but as mentioned, depends on the amount of abuse.

where the apex seals new the first time? if so they should still be in spec. use a micrometer to make sure and what i'd do if reusing them would be to keep them in the same rotors, same grooves they started out in. this is one of those where u could go either way, but with new housings, it just might be a good idea to go with new seals and keep the others for spares provided they're in spec cause ya never know what might happen down the road. good luck.
