Cool mobil1 15W-50?

I'm new to owning a rx-7 (year 88) and must ask about things that I SHOULD do and SHOULDN'T do in maintance of the rotory...

I work in a oil-change shop (with free oil changes ) and heard that 20-50 is the best to use, would I be able to use 15w-50 Fully-Synthetic with no bad side-effects (non-turbo)?

BTW any other advise would be good tnx

For what it`s worth!

I have a 1987 non turbo that now has over 290,000 miles on it. It has had all kinds of oils in it. Just for kicks and giggles, a year ago I tryed the Mobil1 15W-50 oil in the car. It ran great, but what I noticed was that the residual oil "puddled" in the bottom of the combustion chambers if the car sat for a few days and smoked quite badly when I started it. Plugs were dirtier also. It dosn`t do that as bad at all with conventional oil. I use Dello 400 15W-40 in it mostly, keeps the engine very clean and I don`t have carboning issues anymore either.

The going understanding is to not use synth in a rotary. 20/50 is good for your year.
