Question How many of you are using Mobile 1 15W-50 Synthetic Oil?

I was just wondering if any of you guys are using synthetic... I don't care about synthetics are bad for our motors or dino oil burns cleaner... I just don't care about that. Frequent Oil Changes and good care is what it takes to make the engine happy...... ^ ^
Anyways.... I just want to know how many of you are using Synthetic Oil to your Motor??? I am and I have never been happier... the engines quieter and it lasts longer..... Synthetics you can change the oil every 5000 miles or so... but I'm keeping it to 4000. How about you guys???
By the way... the Mobile 1 15W-50 is the one with the Red Cap...

Peace!~~~

You should never go over 3000 miles on an oil change in the FD, especially if it's driven hard. The type of oil doesn't matter, because of issues like fuel dilution within the oil. I use synthetic because it's better on the turbos, but I doubt it will make the engine last any longer....almost no one loses a 13B-REW due to oil-related failures....

So, with this new Mobil 1 you're using -- can you still hear your apex seals?

Mobil 15w-50 in the summer, Mobil 10w-30 in winter. That 15w-50 **** turns to sludge when temps drop below 20*

Idemitsu (787B oil ) in my beast. Loving it. Made a big big difference in driveability, throttle response, and oil pressure.

10w30 is fine for year round. Changine every 1000 or 1500 miles might be a little soon, you do want the oil to break down some...

am i the only one running redline? k&n o.f., 20/50 year round, check levels every 500 miles, and change 1500 mile. i hope your adding oil at least to your 4k expo change, that is pretty nuts if your not. i would imagine that at 4k miles you would lose at least 2 quarts.

Ditto... change mine every winter (but I only drive a total of about 1500-2000 miles max during the year, mostly summertime )

I use Mobil1 10W-30

I use Mobil1 10W-30 and change it every 3K. I only drive her in the summer. I have heard all the debates and notices the car runs smoother and seems to rev quicker with synthetic. Just watch the levels since it injects oil into the rotors.

I have been using Mobil 1 15-50 for a couple of years. I did a test to measure oil temps when I did the change. The oil in the car initially was Castrol 20-50. I started the car when cold, and left it at idle. I kept track of oil temps at each 5* increase in water temp up to when the fans came on at just over 220*. I let the engine cool completely, and changed the oil to Mobil 1 15-50. I did the same test with Mobil 1, and found that oil temps were lower all the way across the range of water temps. IIRC, oil temps were 5* to 10* cooler.

I don't claim that this test provides any absolute answers about oil temps, but it did show me that there is a difference.

The results were posted in a thread if anyone wants to look it up.

Edit: OK, here it is Looks like oil temps differed more than I remembered.

Interesting stuff Adam. As indicated above, I am using Mobil 1 but hadn't seen that thread before. Thanks.

Spending the $$ for synthetic and I thought you were a cheap bastard.

Not this again

non synthetic 20-50 Castrol GTX in sunny FL, for ever and 4-6 ounces of X-1R. Royal purple in the tranny/diff

Take the the money you'd save on synthetic and throw out the window and you'll feel the same as if you used synthetic.

If you wear it out before you blow it up, your doing something wrong :-)
