Question How to remove nipple from water pump housing?

What's the preferred method for removing a nipple from the water pump housing?

Do you simply cut the nipple off, and drill and tap for the required plug or fitting?

Can you heat up the WPH and pull it out, or use some other technique altogether?

I need to remove this:

Because of this:

The hardline hits that nipple so it needs to come out. Thanks for any input.

Your idea for cutting it off and tapping for a plug is a pretty good idea. It would probably be the best option.

Or you can cut it off RIGHT below the nipple, put a bit of JB weld in to plug it, fit it with a rubber cap, and then install a small hose clamp.

If you have removed the water pump, you can cut it as low as possible and weld it. Then grind it down flat with the housing. You'd want to be sure to get rid of any "spatter" or material on the inside of the housing.

I recommend tapping it with a 1/8" NPT and plug it. That way you can always put an AN to NPT adapter there for water lines to a turbo in the future. I had weld on -6AN bungs welded to my wp housing and we had to pull out the nipple as it is pressed in there, it was a pain...

Ive always done this by cutting it so you can tap it, then use a slide hammer with the same thread, pull it out. Purchase and install appropriately sized freeze plug lightly coated in rtv sealant. Or just tap and plug

I'm about to perform this on a nipple from a S5 TII WP.
heating up the aluminum then spraying some liquid co2 into the nipple to contract it, then shock it with a plastic mallet, twist and turn while pullin'!
