Front cover timing mark?

Is the timing mark on the front cover in the same location between 83 12a cover and a 88 turboII?

thanks

Late to the party but the answer is yes. If it wasn't, 86+ engine swaps into 1st gen chassis using the 12A or 13B SE front cover would never work.

Thanks for your reply. Here's my problem. I set up my 60-2 wheel a few years ago on a 88 turboII motor. Timing was perfect. Now I went to a 1st gen car with a 12a cover and am using the same hub, hub pulley and 60-2 wheel. Now my timing appears to be off. So we tuned timing by looking at the plugs after every pull. Timing mark is in the middle of the plug electrode and the timing on the ECU shows +25deg of advance above 30psi at 650rwhp plus at 7000rpms. EGT never got over 770c. The timing light shows that the ecu is correct. Going to recheck everything later this week.

Asked about the front cover just to verify and I do remember something about not swapping hub pulleys with different year hubs. If you do, your timing will be off. IIRC.

You're correct about not switching the timing pulleys. You need to keep the one that came with the engine. The FC timing pulley won't bolt up to the FB pulley hub and vice versa. The FC pulley can bolt to it's hub in only 1 clock position, the FB pulley can bolt up to any one of 4 clock positions to it's hub.

Found my problem. There was a section in the ecu that I imputed 12deg of timing to be added to the map. Why and when I did this, I don't know. Zeroed it out and my map shows the correct timing. Verified timing was correct with a matco timing light. Also did the apex seal in the leading and trailing plug holes to find TDC. made a neat jig for the front pulley and then verified it with two other motor that have not been apart. All is good. Timing was 14deg. Lucky for me I was reading my plugs on the dyno instead of relying on the ecu to tell me what the timing was.
Thanks for your help.
