Engine Rebuilt Question

I was wondering how much a rebuilt on a 13b would be and also is it easy to do the rebuilt yourself. Does anyone know anysite where i can learn about rotary engine. I just bought my Rx7 and is also my first car. I would like to learn every thing about my car. Is a rotary engine easier to fix than a engine that runs on piston.

Costs of rebuilds vary a great bit depending on what type of internal wear you have on your core. Plan on spending AT LEAST $900 to do it RIGHT thats means buying at Least new all new seals and orings of course w/ lapping and all new bearings installed. however you could be spending up to an additional $1200-2000 depending on whether you need new rotor housings, and or new rotors , however remember lower price USED engine parts may be sourced on the forum and ebay to replace anything so significant amount of$ can be saved if youre willing to go used insted of new, which is normally ok for engines that are no looking for extreme power, as long as everything checks out ok specwise-

.....and yes the rotary engine is relativley easy to rebuild yourself. Just do your homework and get as much info as you can including a rebuilding video, Atkins or Rotary aviations are recomended. I remember my 1st rebuild! Its a day you never will forget - to see your 1st rebuild fire up. Many people talk the talk but until you rebuild your on motor your only walking the walk! lol

Here's a link for the ATkins on Ebay. Now I'm tempted to give it a go.

They are really quite simple little engines. Cleaning parts takes more work than assembly most of the time. Pick one of the rebuild videos, read the FSM and Haynes manuals.

thanks i feel more happy now cause they keep on saying that rotary engine are hard to fix because if all the belt. i got a question about changing the timing belt. So if i were to change the timing belt by my self. Do you think changing timing belt is easier on a rotary engine then changing it on a piston engine.

There is no timing belt. The only thing remotely close to it is the oil pump chain. The dizzy is gear driven and there are no cams for a belt to drive.

Best suggestion is to Google "wankel,or Rotary".the engine only has Approximately TEN moving parts.NO valves No cam No pistons.NO belts ..unless you are countin a power steering belt or alternator or water Pump belt..I realize you are new,but if you are havin a Rough time understandin Typed info, you should seek Pictures,or try to find a clip on the internet of a "cutaway Version " of the Engine.Maybe you will come away with a Better undertsanding of the operation of the engine, and once that is "learned' .the Answers that are being given will seem to make more Sense.I wish you luck, welcome to the Rotary world, and Good Luck Rx-7 Kid!
