broken vac line

so i was truble shooting my idle issue with my 90 N/a rx7 128k miles and i broke a vac line that goes to a plastic saucer valve right next to the oil filler neck, and is actually connected to it, and has to small vac lines on bottom and top of it..

well it broke but i cant seem to figure out what they are used for??? car still runs without the saucer thingy in place just wanted to get some idea as to what it does, and if i can re route thse lines or plumb them.
any info is appreciated thnx

PCV valve. It's used for "crankcase" emissions purposes, and involved in preventing gunk buildup in the oil filler neck.

thnx for the information brother.
nw would i need to cap the nipple that goes to the uim, and use a pcv valve from the filler neck to the nipple that goes to the bottom of the purge valve?

You could go to a catch can setup, but I think it's just simple to replace the PCV. You can probably find one for cheap in the classifieds if you post a WTB ad.
