Both doors broken!

Hi there so i know the RX7 is infamous for the shitty door handle mechanism. The passenger door is already broken but today my driver side handle stuck in place and I cant open the door. I tried putting WD-40 into the keyhole and waited about 3 hours for it to work its magic but its still just as stuck. I don't know what else I can try other than smashing the window. Is there anyway I can pry open something to help me gain access to the inside or am I just S.O.L.?

It's an FD3s, the latch to open it is inside.

really? there's no key cylinder to open it form the outside? all the other's do.

oh and putting wd40 in the keyhole will do nothing for the door handle. it'll just lubricate the cylinder and each time u remove the key it will have wd40 on.

I believe turning the key in the hatch cylinder will pop it? Otherwise you could try pulling the handle on the inside with a coat hanger or something.

If you spray lubricant up under the door handle by two arms it might help unstick it. You should be able to open the hatch with the key.

Yep, the key will pop the hatch when you turn the lock outside.

I would probably get a good locksmith involved if you still can't get in - they have tools and techniques to unlock doors without damaging things. Don't be a dummy and break a window!

Once you're in, GET NEW DOOR HANDLES and solve the problem.

It doesn’t pop the hatch when I turn the key. Do I have to hold it for a certain amount of time? And I already tried the grease in the keyhole and nothing worked.

And if you’re referring to a keyhole on the hatch, there is none.

There should be a key hole in the top center of the rear bumper for the hatch. Mine definitely pops it, used it today.

Ok found a fix. I work on F/A-18's and I search through our tool room and saw the safety wire, and had an idea. I got about 15 feet of safety wire, made a loop at the widway point and then twisted the rest of it together. I went back to my car, pried the window back enough to get it through the weather seal and lowered it to the trunk unlock latch. I finally got it around it and yanked up, releasing the trunk and allowing me to get in. And I'm sorry I forgot to mention, I have a body kit thaty replaces the rear bumper so the lock mechanism was removed. But hopefully this can help other people who find themself in this rare/stupid situation. Probably should have replaced that passenger door handle ages ago but never got around to it. Thanks everyone.

in the future, there is a really easy and simple mod you can do to keep them from jamming, take a read of this post https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...ow-fix-982678/ and do what it says
