this happened to me 2 weeks ago, when you try to unlock it does the lock levver almost go all the way up but not as high as the driver side? thats what mine did and i was lucky enough to beable to look at my parts car with the door panle off to figure it out. you can get to it without taking the door panel off because since its closed you cant get it off anyway (the frustrating part of it). what you have to do is get a metal coat hanger and just straighten it a little you dont have to stick it down there more than 6 inches. by the rear most part of the window opening, if you kinda peak in there you can see the mechenism move when you pull the handle. well the part that gets pushed down when you pull the handle does not return up all the way and that is what wont let you get it unlocked. you need to grap that and pull it up with the hanger untill it kinda clicks (you will notice it) then you can unlock it all the way and open the door. pull on and off while trying to unlock it works the best. once you get it open DO NOT LOCK IT or it will happen again. you can take it and get it fixed or do what i did and put a zip tie around that little lever, it hides in the window jam so it doesnt look stupid and people can NOT unlock the door by pulling it. If this fixes your problem cool, if not sorry for the long post...

It won't open from the inside, or from the outside, or both? Alot of the outside handles break but you can still open the door from the inside handle. I've got an 86 and I've had to replace both outer door handles.
