Yes we are happy to ship internationally. We sent a handfull of FD kits to the UK, greece, india, and a few other countries. If you need RHD please note that in the list (I think Portugal is LHD though but please correct me if I'm wrong). I'll add you to the list . -Heath

LOL $799 IS the price down (originally the price was going to be $850). Projector setups like this typically go for $1K+. We've cut as much expense out of these things as we can and are paying ourselves practically nothing (and there is a ton of work involved in hand making each set). We are also running the two GB's together to try to leverage bulk parts pricing even further. We're lucky to even have close to 15 people signing up for each type.

$799 is the GB pricing.... if we make a couple extra sets and stock them on our website they will be listed for $950 or $975. Everyone in here including myself knows these are not cheap headlights... if they were, everyone would already be running these setups in their car. These are true high end HID projectors using OEM Philips bulbs, and very nice ballasts, which have been retrofitted to fit into your older Mazda with a plug and play (basically) harness. If we could make them cheaper, trust me, we would.

yes it is going to happen 99%. I need to test fit them on a local FB which I am arranging now. After I can verify fitment, we'll run the whole FC/Fb group buy and collect payments, there will be a short wait for the parts, then time to build them and pack/ship.

-Heath

Note about the FB lights:
In working with the miata, it became apparent that because the space is so limited inside the bucket (and production rear fiberglass shields would end up with a larger form factor so they can be popped out of the mold) it may actually be better to hand-lay the rear shields (unfortunately). While this will significantly increase the amount of work that we have to do on each set, it allows the shield form factor to be reduced which will translate into you guys having to trim WAY less of the inner bucket-bracket to make this fit. Again, I'll be verifying all this and taking pictures during the test fit.

[QUOTE=RotorMotor;10014571]
The FB / Miata prototype is finalized. I've test fit it in my miata so far. All that was needed was a little trimming on the inner bucket, and longer adjustment bolts to push the light out a tad as the projector extends a ways back. I have a local guy that I can hopefully meet up with shortly to test these on the FB.

Does that "little trimming on the inner bucket" or "pushing the light out a tad" affect aesthetics at all?

Do you anticipate this trimming and/or pushing the light out to be required on the FB? If so, some pics of the installation, "trimming" and the difference between stock placement and "pushed out" placement would be great.

thanks

well at the moment I can only speak for the miata, but I have a good feeling they will be quite similar. Inside the headlight there is a stamped metal cup that holds the headlight. This cup will need to be trimmed in the center allow the back of the projector to pass through as its deeper and wider than the stock lights. This inner bucket is never seen. What it does is provide a mounting surface that holds the light, and the retaining spring and adjustment screws attach to this bracket. The light gets pushed out 15-20mm. The appearance is virtually identical to the stock lights. I'll post up some pictures shortly with a stock light on one side and the HID's on the other. I'll also get some pictures of the miata bucket and how much is trimmed off to allow it to fit.

Maybe I missed it but when the GB goes up, do these need to be paid in full or just a deposit?

if we do a deposit it will be 1/2 the purchase price, and the remainder will be due on completion of the lights. It makes sorting payments out a little more confusing but for some people it will give them a little extra time to gather the rest of the money.

Will the GB be starting soon? Or are we waiting for the list to be full on both sides(fc/fb-miata)?

Also i assume production would start when everyone has deposited half of the stated price? If this is true what sort of time frame are we looking at for completion and delivery? Nothin exact or anything just an estimate.

Nope we're just gonna run it... the NB list isnt gonna reach 15 LOL . So, we're just gonna verify fitment (hopefully this weekend) and then open this thing up. I have parts suppliers lined up. The longest wait will be waiting for everyone to submit payments I'm sure (well that and building them).

So, open up the GB this week, and hopefully have them built by the end of next month.

Type of payment methods accepted? CC over the phone, personal check, paypal?
Just trying to get things lined up is all.

Standard paypal (3% fee), personal paypal (no fee), or personal check if you are so inclined.... though paypal is preferred as we can better track orders with it.

The kit price will be $799 + shipping (+paypal fee % if applicable). I think we are going to open another thread for the actual GB so we can condense all of the info in this one into a new, easier to read thread. I'll be sending everyone in the list a PM when the new thread is opened (that should be this weekend or next week).

The new signup list will have a place to list your forum name what kit (FB/FC), your shipping zip code (so we can post shipping quotes for everyone), and if you require LHD or RHD. Hopefully we'll get this moving along as quick as possible. I know you guys have been waiting a long time .

Will you be offering the 55W Ballast upgrade as you did in the FD GB?

Also would you have any problem with people paying in full instead of two half amount deposits?

We only offered 35w ballasts (OEM or aftermarket) and only ever sold 2 OEM ones. The aftermarket ballasts we use are really good and have a 2 year warranty where the used oem ones have no warranty. We just ended up dropping the OEM option as it was expensive and aftermarket ballasts we use are the best available, and have a small footprint.

55w ballasts significantly decrease bulb life, make the light color more yellow, and ultimately dont really put out much more light. I used the higher wattage ballasts for a week (personally) and switched back. The 35 watt ballasts are the best, and its all we bother with now. That's what all the OEM setups use.

As far as payment, we would highly prefer people pay in one payment (for simplicity sake, and then we dont have to hold peoples lights and money while they eventually come up with the balance). So the deposit option is really only for people in a pinch, and I would like to get a PM from anyone wanting to do a deposit so I can explain the terms of doing a deposit with us. But long story short, one full payment is what we much prefer and it will help get you parts in the mail as soon as they are complete. -Heath
