Projects ?
OK whats everyone got on the go at the moment. I know RotaryEmotions has his 13bT swap under full steam and Magnus is thinking about his twin rotor RC car so whats every one else got on the go ?
as for me,
I have a Sylva Striker Mk2 kit car in part build( Looooong term project) currently at the custom wiring loom making stage (its dead easy but it don't half get messy if you don't think it out carefully)
Just finished helping build up a road rally Lada Riva (yes a Lada!) it cost less than £800 to rally prep and came 14th out of 60 starters in the legendary Preston road rally (120 miles of bumpy farm tracks etc. and 80 odd miles on road)
And the winter rebuild on my 7, booked into the bodyshop early Jan for accident damaged and a general tidy up + its getting some Tokico Illumina adjustables and maybee a straight through exhaust (if the company gets their act together soon!)
Next on the list are reshelling a freinds Mk3 escort rally car and stage rally prepping my mates Rover Metro Gti (1.4 injection 16v 110odd hp <1000Kg hatchback that goes like stink!)
looks like we'll be busy for a while

Hey Mike, a Striker!!! Cool I love kit cars, but I'd put a rotary in there... Well, I'd put a rotary in everything
As for the projects...well, kinda going over the top.
1st) getting a 13BT in my car
2nd) putting the 12A from my car in my fathers 1980 SA
3rd) finishing my fathers car
4th) doing the interior of the Mariah...
5th) getting my brothers FC on the road
6th) buy a Bentley for my friend (as his expense )
7th) getting his firm on the tracks
8th) build his FB
9th) build some sort of kit car...
And some other things I forgot. Might have to go to work at my regular job in between too. (driving trains)
Oh yeah and I must fix my PC, and,and,and....

I have to fix my 91 Renault 21, so that I have something to drive while I put the motor from my 90 Pontiac Sunbird turbo 2.0 into an 87 Chevy Cavalier (same car, different name, non-turbo).
But I won't be able to start that project until I swap my 90 Hyundai Excel for the 87 Cavalier that currently belongs to my next-door neighbor.
And I can't swap the Hyundai until I get the Renault driveable...
Counfused yet?
I also have 1974 Rotary Pickup restoration project I waiting on me when I get back to the States.
And, I'm still fixing the stuff that broke from the last rally I was in, in September...

So what Ren is trying to say is: he needs to get the renault driveable... Who drives Renault??? Get yourself a decent car: get a Mazda :-)
But, ehh, kinda like that 4 wheel steering... Not gonna try it though...

Well, I only need the Renault for long enough to get the 2.0t swapped into the Cavalier. I'm going to use that to dust off some of these annoyingly ubiquitous Impreza GT's here.
There's only like 10 RX-7's in the whole country. There's 3 FD's and at least 3 FC's (incluging one on the base here that, unfortunately, doesn't beling to me ). I think I've seen one 1st gen, but I can't swear to that.
I didn't bring any of my 7's with me, mainly because I didn't want the salt they put down when the roads ice over to eat away at my car. Also, I'm not really used to driving a RWD in the snow. I kick myself every day for not bringing one, though, especially when I see that guy with the white 91 NA driving around.

My winter project is replacing the stock plastic intercooler. I have the new intercooler, 2 (test fit) brackets and a (test fit) intake shroud which will be made of carbon fiber to match the cold air intake. The hard pipes are in the works and will be welded after the holiday's. So, all is going great. well, until the temp in the garage dropped to zero and my fingers don't work so good anymore.

Silencers??? Run straight pipes, that's what the real guys do
Can't they be under the car? Not sure, mayb they have to be sidepipes for clearance. In that case a split exhaust, L+R with a single mufflr must work.A bit loud, but hey: Loud Pipes Save Lives!

its only got 10cm's of ground clearance and ther bottom of the car is totally flat ( ) so it'd have to be down the sides , two either side would work ... maybee with a balance pipe between the pipes at the rear of the engine bay or somthing
Got to get the damn thing running under piston power first ! walking before you can run and all that

maybe (maybe!) this is my new project:
https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...hreadid=142810
i don't know yet but it all depends on the state when i see it and the parts that come with it...
please take a look and vote yes or no. a RX-3 is rare here in Europe so please consider that also.
and what should i do? keep the 12A setup but replace it with a 12A turbo block or do the 13B conversion? decisions, decisions, decisions... pfff

Hm, Andreas... RX3 is rare, that's true. But you will need some money to gt it alright, yes...
I'd like a RX3 one day myself, but keep in mind, parts might not be that easy to find. If you think the repairs are fitting the budget, go for it. It'd be great to see another RX3. But be aware, this one's gonna cost blood sweat and tears, as far as I can judge.
If you buy it, the engine will be another choice... What about early type (RX4/5) 13B, street or bridge port? Would fit the syle, in my opinion.
Let us know what you're going to do with it!

To come back on Andreas may-be-project... I took a another look at those pics. Well, f I'd be offered a Seven in that stae (rust, not nice interior, non-running engine) I wouldn't spend more then 250-400 euro on it. Ok, a RX3 is more rare, so might be worth something more. But it's just not worth the 1500 euro. Try to locate another one first, or try to lower the price. If you're really intrested in a RX3, try to find someone who owns one to help you finding a decent one, or one for a decent price.
But again: those are great cars... Should you start work on this one or another one, do keep us updated, and either go for a flat-out restoration, or build a car in the typical style from back then.
Good luck,
Bart
