Lightbulb RX-3 - should i buy it?

that RX-3 is for sale. asking price is Euro 1500 (around 1500 USdollars).
body is ok except for the rust seen on the pics. bottom is fine, just some little work. interior is not nice engine is a 12A of course but will not run.

buy it and start working on the car? or not?

My 2 cents.

Figure out how much you want to spend in total.
Figure out who is going to do the body work and how much that will cost. (this would be the biggest deciding factor for me)
Factor in all the other costs on engine, interior, and other miscellaneous costs.

If it falls in your budget, and you think it is a worthwhile endeavor go for it.

My second 2 cents. (I just happened to have 4 in my pocket)

If RX 3's are not that rare where you are, you may be able to find better in that price range.

That looks pretty damn fucked! If they are rare and u have money to fix it, then get it. If they are not that rare where u are, look further.
It pains me to see an rx3 look like that. i notice it has the 12A mazda grille badge tho. I would grab that off him if nothing else.

Andreas: I know they are rare in Holland.. they were never sold there right?
BUT... If it looks like that on the outside??
Get it on a lift a check the underside.. it's probably not tha good...

1500 Euro is a lot of money... and fixing rust is a real pain in the ***... trust me I know..

I would have to pass, even if they ARE rare in your area.
All that means is that it will be impossible to find patch panels necessary to repair the rusted areas.
Also, it looks like someone molded-in some kind of funky side skirts?
Oh yeah, those'd have to go.
The rotor wheels are not to my taste, but there are a lot of people who like 'em.
The '74 and above RX3s in the US had the big DOT crash bumpers instead of the nice lightweight bumpers as shown in the photo.
There, I said something nice about it... -WG

well, this project is closed since i'm not gonna buy it. too much rust, underside is rotten...
and the price for the parts and the shipping to my place isn't worth it.
too bad...

Rx3's are either worth alot or they are not worth anything... if your not looking to buy one and dont have any money you see them all the time... CHEAP... when it comes time to buy one... you cant find any... just the way it is

You might want to ask him if he'll part it out. Take all the good parts while the gettin's good. Spares for a non rusty Rx3 you can buy and restore in the future...

in OZ just the wheels are worth about 2000 bucks.
rest of the car is not much though, like any resto all depends on time and cashflow. as stated if underside is rotten talk em right down and keep it for parts.

That nose part could be used.
Looks like a 12a version. AU got those, and the SP version of the rx3 in the USA got it too.
