Any Tips on Tuning Microtech DIGI II
Any Tips on Tuning Microtech DIGI II
I was wondering if anyone has any tips on tuning a Microtech DIGI II. Right now I have it running rich for safety, but I would like to actually tune it to run a little cleaner. I have a manual, but this is my first attempt at tuning by myself. I know I can't get too exact without putting it on a dyno or using a wideband O2 sensor. I am running it on a streetported 13bT with a 2.5"dp and mid-pipe, an intake, and no emmissions equipment. I would appreciate any input on settings or what to "feel/listen" for when adjusting.
Thanks,
Kevin
Thanks,
Kevin
The microtech folks don't seem to be too helpful. I know the Microtech should be easy to tune, but I'm thinking a haltech would have been easier with all the help thats readily available.
Sorry Kspurr,
Busy day at work yesterday. Two ways to go, if you give me all of the details of your car we can work a base map to start with, probably out of something of similar spec we have in the w/shop. From there we can trim it closer to your cars needs. Your best suggestion would be to call me on a phone that you can talk to me on while you have the unit in your hands and we can go through it with you. With the ammount of unaudited slagging that is directed at Microtech on this forum, it does not encourage us to service it. However whenever I see a need you will get assistance.

The best way to go about it is to sit down and go through everything on the computer so you know what everything does, when you do the start adjusting fuel and ignitian slowly, for the fuel maps start in the load section (down 1 screen from where it comes up when you turn it on) if you are having problems in the upper rev rang then adjust the rpm wot fuel maps, (down a few screens) all the idle and low throttle maps are under the idle map (2 down from switch on) depending on your injectors and stuff it depends on how much fuel you will need to take out etc, just go slow and if you feel you have a problem back off straight away to save you engine, make sure you setup cruse maps, it will save you heaps on the fuel, lots of people dont do this and they bag them cause of bad fuel consumption cause the turner hasnt setup cruze maps.

That is a VERY good point about the cuize maps ! I have tuned MANY Microtechs for guys that have paid BIG BUCKS to get em tuned and these setting have not been touched !!!
Another tip you can tell which map the Microtech is referencing by the cursor flashing at that particlar map ie, cruize, WOT, LOAD etc...this is handy so you do not adjust the wrong maps while you are driving or on the dyno
It ends up being a compromise system casue of the different maps the unit picks for different situations but you can get it fairly good and close, with a bit of time and effort It can run more economically than a poorly set up Haltech or other more expensive ECU.
I have a customer/friends car running DIGI2 and it makes over 460BHP with economy/drivability level close to my car.

Seriously though, it is good to see constructive help rather than slanging matches
Well done everyone

I'll be in that. Thanks guys this should be alot more productive to be able to incorporate all off our tuners knowledge and experience with all of our ECU knowledge. Should be able to solve any problems.

I'll join that group today! I appreciate all the help. I'm sure it'd be easier if I lived in Australia and not in Dallas, the stomping grounds of Haltech using Rotary Performance.
