F**K THE SYSTEM!!
some people are just too worried about the damn drifter style like that silvia.
JUst get some sick practice. I wouldnt worry about a nice car till after my third totaled car- IF I think im good enough to upgrade. If not i keep driving beaters.
"if your not falling, your not learning"
ANd with a nice car.. you will be scared to fall.

its not even about motors. way back in the day i started with a stock suspension stock lsd na s4 gxl. we went out 4 nights a week to the canyon and it took me a few months to be able to make a run without spinning or understeering. then i picked up a single cam s13 and it was retarded easy. where i used to really concentrate on my imputs and being smooth, i didnt have to so much. it was really enjoyable to drive s13 but it got boring after a year or so. i moved back to fc chassis and driving the s13 improved my skills a lot. since i got used to being able to pay attention to clip points and line vs just imputs. i didnt drive a powerful car for 3 years after i started and at that time it was really natural for me. i see all these clowns now building 3-400 hp cars and either doing doughnuts or understeering and messing up their prized cars. they look like clowns. i know the low power na cars arent pretty to watch but you have to walk before you can run.

All of this is well said, but I just have one more input. Can ya'll please stop referencing to that damn LS1 S14 it is a different car and completely different way of tuning and driving style compared to the FC. If you want a FC reference look at Todd Ho's formula d vids or something. He's a pro driver at least lol.
*Sorry just no love for 240's here, I don't like em. That stupid slammed stance is not meant for racing or drifting for that matter.

Hachi driver checking in...
Don't bother swapping engines yet, it's way better to learn with very little power so that you can learn to milk the car for all it's worth.
As a matter of fact, if it ain't broken, don't fix it, because you will have plenty of experience with breaking stuff by the time you attain legit status.

You're 100% right. Having a reliable, high power, high torque engine that's easy to work on and has almost instant parts availability installed in a car intended for a motorsport that requires almost constant abuse is a dumb idea.

replacing motors/turbos every 2 years isn't financially wise in an already expensive sport.
I've blown 3 S4 motors and 3 S5 turbos in a 4-5 year period. I'm fairly certain an LS will hold 300rwhp for a longer period than that. Oh, and I don't have to fish rx7club for 2 months trying to find a replacement motor.
I will admit that my current Atkins 3mm has lasted the longest. I'm at about 70K on it. (crosses fingers hoping I didn't jinx myself)

Exactly my point! I love rotaries, and I miss mine terribly, but I certainly don't miss living in fear of blowing my engine.
Some people take it way too far, too. There used to be a guy at the meets down here that would carry distilled water with him, and if he was leaving before the car got a chance to cool down, he would drain his radiator and pour in all fresh water.

I guess you and your shop arent too great at building rotaries because there are a few builders in this forum that beat on their 7's for over 3 years.
ANd I am one of them. I bought my 88TII from some white kids for 1000$.
The chassi had 160,000+ on it. ANyways. I daily drove it for over 3 years and drifted it every weekend and sometimes during the week too. I abused the living crap out of my engine. It was my only car. ANd everytime i went from point A to B it would atleast go WOT twice.
Sorry to hear you cant keep yours running. hahah
