Alright alright, I guess I'm staying with the triangles!
No interest at all on any of my current set up so Ill tune this on pump gas and run what I brung.

This will get me on the track much sooner.
Now that Ive moved to san diego, it is almost the same amount of driving time to vegas drift and Justdrift willow springs.(until we get a place in san diego)

So hope to hit both.

Installing aquamist system, just for protection on pump gas, it will be water only. Then if I can book an appointment for next week with a tuner somewhere, I should be frying by the end of next week.............

So Im back at it after too long.

Set up an appt to see Daniel K at GarageLife. He had an E8 in the past and did not mind tuning these older ecu's.
Packed car up for trip from San Diego to South El Monte for tuning.

After spending some time at the shop sorting out ALOT of wiring and tuning issues, luckily before the paid time on dyno, it was ready to strap down to HPS's dynopacks.

LS coils and wiring was bad, set timing jumping during tuning, and not being able to push past 4200 rpm under half load. Then Daniel decided to stop tuning before blowing motor, thank you sir!

Left car with him at shop for him to rewire in FD coils and wire to E8. It made a big difference but on the dyno , even though it ran much stronger, still similar problem at 4200rpm. After several attempts to remedy this, Dan stopped tuning again. We loaded everything to shop and discussed a gameplan to completely remedy this problem.
Time for another, better, stand alone. Microteck lt12 with 6x box. So out with the old, Haltech E8 and flying lead unterminated(wire harness only no plugs.

God willing, I will compete this year. I have until feb but need track time!

why not get away from all the older stuff entirely and move to an Adaptronic or Haltech platinum series?

Budget and my tuner grew up with microtech and has tuning for 7's down tight with microtech.

I made it to JustDrifts first event at HTM with Martin piloting the car. Amazing as a passenger. When it was handed over to me, my fuel pump started giving me issues and that was my weekend spent chasing more gremlins and rain.

DK my tuner says he has a bit more in the tuning with 400 wheel hp next dyno session.
Feels good to be back in it

Fuel pump voltage all over the place. Something wrong with Painless race harness installed. Easier to just make new harness, with new relays, etc. Replaced both pumps and buttoned it all up last night.
Hoping to get back on dyno this week to make sure and to set final HP number to 400 at the wheels.

Then I can test out the new parts by max front arms and full coil overs.

So this last motor blew awhile back. my first trip to willow with it. It has been sitting and now I have decided it is time to sell this project. Rotaries and me do not mix.
Over $12000 in motor builds and I am done. I will not touch another rotary and I do not have $10000 for a motor swap, or even 6,7 or $8000.
The car is great to drift I just cannot stand the triangles.

I think $6000 is more than fair for everything that has been done. It is impossible to build a car to this level anywhere near that price so the price is firm. It still has everything but motor. It will not sell with rims/tires or seats, as I will need them for whatever my next project drift car will be.

is this a fair price? Opinions?

I've been falling behind on the 7 forums, and I'm saddened to read your latest post here having come back on. But you mentioned, $6+ grand for a rebuild? I can understand if your initial goal was to make massive power, but to have something of that caliber/cost be controlled by a Microwreck? Nothing against Microtech, honestly, as I sometimes had wished I would've gone that route. But there are not enough fail-safe features built into that system [at least from my recollection] to justify the "savings" in cost.

If you are still looking to build a drift car in the future, I would say just stick with the rotary and build a stock short block. Shouldn't cost you more than $1,500 in parts, as it could be damn near free if you find the right components [as I have done before]. The furthest I would go for a budget build that I'm intending to make more power with is simply open up the exhaust ports a bit, advance the opening time to get massive spool potential.

If you need someone to build an engine on the budget, I'd be willing to help. In the end it is up to you, but I would also look into a different EMS and plow forward.

$6k plus was for a motor swap not rebuild . I don't have tools or knowledge to fabricate so that price must also include shop profits. Stock type rebuilds will not give the power needed to compete and win. Even in top drift alot of competitors all have big power and great suspension and tuning. Why spend $1000's just to not be competitive? Waste of $ in my opinion. Never been happy with the triangles. The rx7 was a business plan not personal.

Have you given any thought on piston power? You have lots time on the chassis and parts invested, as well as you are used to driving it, maybe put an LS or 1J/2J in
